I was lucky enough to catch a flock of these late in the evening last summer in northern Michigan. I pulled over on the side of the road and the field next to my car exploded with two dozen or so Meadowlarks. They slowly flew to other grass, posts and short trees nearby but kept singing. It was a wonderful experience. P.S. Love hearing the Dickcissel in the background as well!

Farming causes habitat loss for this species. And also lack of grassy areas for them to nest.
