Back when I was a young girl growing up in Milford Ct I saw these birds before they started building more and more houses and condominiums in my area! We had farms and grasslands and ponds but because of property development their habitat is now gone !!

I've never gotten to see or hear these birds during their breeding season here in CT. There's still a good amount of marshlands in the region I live in, where Red-winged Blackbirds dominate most of them. This bird's song sounds something like a Hermit Thrush.

Beautiful. Those claws! Im surprised they dont interfere with them walking on the grass.

The Western Meadowlark is the State Bird of North Dakota. They look pretty similar to the Eastern Meadowlarks. I don't hear them much anymore. Lots of birds gone here and I believe it's got a lot to do with farmers using weed spray in mass amounts. There's still habitat here but I don't see much of what I saw 30 years ago when I moved here. I miss that beautiful tune. BTW an article came out yesterday they are going to remove all the wild horses from our national parks. Im full of great news today huh? 😕

Thanks for the info, I looked it up on Google and their plan is BS. The horses are big draw to the park and I spent quite a lot of time with them and I can't fathom how they could harm the ecosystem as horses actually originated in the Great Plains to begin with. BB
