The “Method, Man” comment was a double reference to both Method Man, the rapper, and the Socratic Method, wherein Socrates would answer a students question with a question to force the student to think. The “Toxic like a Hemlock Sip” referenced how Socrates was forced to commit suicide via drinking Hemlock poison for “Corrupting the youth of Athens”. And the B. Frank that Voltaire mentioned was a reference to a famous meeting between himself and Ben Franklin.

Except, you know... he wasn't a part of that Wu. Sun Tzu lived well over 500 years before the Three Kingdoms period. His only (miniscule) relation to the kingdom of Wu (Three Kingdoms), was that Sun Ce and Sun Quan, the founders, were said to be descendants of Sun Tzu. This has never really been proven, however. The Wu kingdom Sun Tzu served was that of king Helü, around 500 BC. So it was most likely a reference to that. :)

The Wu actually references the Yin- Yang symbol. He called two of them the Yin and Yang twins before saying he was going to take apart Sun's Wu. Wu is the circle that the Yin-Yang symbol sits in and represents the concept of nothing.

Wu also is the Chinese word for martial, as in war. Wu Shu, means *martial* arts.

The amount of references in this one is completely insane. I've studied philosophy and I don't even think I'm catching them all. My absolute favourite was Lao Tzu telling Sun Tzu "move, bitch, get out the way." Lao Tzu wrote the Tao te Ching, which in ancient Chinese means something like the Great Book About the Virtue of The Way. You could talk a lot about what 'Tao' or 'The Way' is (it is ancient philosophy and mysticism after all) but essentially you could say its The Way all Things Are and The Way All Things Should Be, so when Lao Tzu is telling Sun Tzu to get out the way, he's not just telling him to step aside, he's basically telling him to remove himself from all of existence entirely. All of that on top of being a reference to the Ludacris song as well, which is just the cherry on top.

Wrong era though, Sun Tzu was born in the 500s BC and the Romance of Three Kingdoms was set around 175 AD... That said, Sun Tzu's birth name was Sun Wu and he served the king of the state of Wu (more of a feudal lord instead of an actual emperor) during the end of Zhou Dynasty, or more commonly known as the Warring States. So "taking apart your Wu" can refer to his kingdom that he served, or taking him apart...

What Socrates is saying is that he's gonna rip apart his bullshit with his method... as in the Socratic Method of asking a series of piercing questions to sift through the bullshit. It actually isn't true that the very concept of philosophy was Socrates' invention. All three of the Western philosophers' opponents died (and had therefore made their contributions) before Socrates was even born.
