Eastern Wild Turkeys Strutting

Those mornings when the magic happens! Two days ago I sat in the dark waiting for the sunrise and listening to the gobblers on the roost over the swamp. By 8:30 I’d seen nothing and started to think I’d been duped; that’s when I gave a soft yelp, yelp, yelp and the big Tom hammered back with a thundering gobble. He and his entourage had come in behind me finally making there way out in front of the camera. I laid down 29 min of timecode before they moved off into the shadows.

The beauty of those feathers overlapping each other, like shingles with a dark strip on the outer edge. I marvel at the bird's ability to raise up all its feathers, without so much as a thought, a natural reflex.

Hi Doug, Can you tell me what your set up is for audio. Also, when you encounter wildlife, what's your thought process determining whether to shoot at 120, 60 or just stay with a standard frame rate? Thanks. Love that backlighting!
