Best wiring tutorial I've seen. Some folks are pretty random with wiring, or they're going by instincts and just don't explain "why" they're doing what they're doing, but I appreciate how you explain the techniques. Thank you!

Even tho some of things you say contradict things Ive heard from masters working on bonsai for 50 years, but I like your videos quite a lot, you go in depth on some things others dont include and just glide over, and some of your facts contradicting that of experienced masters is even more acceptible, because those same masters like to say that there are classical ways you may follow, there are modern ways you may follow, or go in between and use some of your own routes and aesthetics, because the most important thing is that the tree is healthy and looks good for you and maybe other people, in short, keep the tree healthy and enjoy it.

Hi Jason.... I am trying hard to learn how to make a bonsai.... I love the way you showed how to wire... That’s very helpful to me. It had been my dilemma of how to work on the roots. I hope you have a video on that aspect of creating a bonsai.... I am your new fan haven’t seen a lot of your video yet . And also a lesson on how to choose a tree/plant to start a bonsai ... Thank you and more power

Hey it was good, now I know how to clean the branch, match wire size for the branch, anchor a single branch and spread the wired fishbone technique and cover it. Everything was so easy to view and nothing blocked my view. Now I'll need to scout around for a huge variety of wire sizes for my first large Green Mound Juniper in Rock Pot yet to be delivered safely. I'm sure I'll be watching more of your video's, Thanks for everything!

Knowing how to cut, where to cut, and when, is probably a skill that comes with experience. I once asked those questions of some Italian workers pruning an olive grove. Their answer? It's an ancient and traditional secret which no-one knows!!

More, more! You're so thorough and really natural as a teacher. There are other great bonsai videos on KZbin but.. make more. :) Also, I know this sounds like/is a direct plug, but Eastern Leaf has some really nice bonsai for under $35. I've looked around in the last few days and that's really cheap to have it already manicured and in a nice pot? (I have no idea what I'm doing yet so I have no desire to get a completely natural tree and try to not kill it, myself...)

No need to ask it was way beyond helpful. You explain everything in great detail and make it so the watcher can see the actual work being done as oppose to just saying what you're doing. A friend of mine who does shows etc is an expert that also does video on youtube and real nice ones. However, he's doesn't show the actual detail of the wok being done as much as you do. I wasn't sure how to wire the second branches until I saw your video. I don't like to bug my friend he has so many people asking stuff. I sure hope he doesn't read this lol Please make many more videos I love them and send me the link I am subscribed. Lastly if you haven't done one can you do one explaining how to thicken the trunk?

Wow, am I happy I found your videos! I’ve searched for a long time just so that I might start creating movement, interest and beauty to my trees, but have never seen anyone do it with the visuals you have- showing all angles and speaking in detail that even I can understand. Thank you so much for putting these out there. I haven’t looked for it yet, but one of the main things I’m interested in is how to secure the roots with wire (or any other way). I’ve tried to do it several times and they always find a way to jiggle at root level in the first steps away from my 360° base. I hope you have a video on it already, but if not, is that something you could be interested in doing please? Thank you.

Hello! I am very new to bonsai. I am curious as to how long you typically keep wires on the primary/secondary branches? Is there a method to test to see if the branch has begun to hold the desired position or do you take the wire off periodically to see? I just do not want to scar the branches if at all possible. Thank you!

Hi Jason and anyone reading this, to shared that I had made myself a bonsai pot turn-table for the cost of a welding rod and a can of spray paint. Get 2 pcs discarded truck air bellow, pipe and bolt from the truck repair workshop or junk yard. Cut out the 2 round metal top of the various sizes air bellow of your choice and on top center of one metal disc weld a half inch dia. pipe x 2 inches long as a stand. Next, weld a 3/8" dia x 2.5 inch pointed bolt or stud to the center of the other round metal disc this time at the bottom center. Cleaned and polished all parts and give it a coat of spray paint. when paint dry up, stack them up one on top of the other with some heavy grease in the pipe, and Voila... you have a nice heavy duty bonsai turntable depending on your skill. Cheers. Note:- If you do this upload to share and perhaps sell on your website.
