Running the box wedge on my 22-28 100% of the time. May end up being a few more cycles at the end of the day but it's still fast as hell compared to any other machine and versatile enough that it consistently produces no matter what size blocks I'm working with. I find it also safer handling the bigger pieces. Less hands-on the wood and let the machine do the work. ALSO, Love the serrated teeth on the lift plate! I noticed some of the machines in the videos have non-serrated risers and really appreciate them on my machine.

I've observed with many firewood splitters, the larger number of wedges (6 way, 8 way and bigger), that they work great for a certain narrow range sizes of log. Anything outside that range, one might as well use a box wedge with the pull back arm and get consistent sized firewood splits. The woodworker in me always sheds a tear seeing such large and relatively straight logs get cut up for firewood instead of made into lumber.

The box does not make nicer wood. In theory it does but in actuality wood has knots which won’t let it lay perfectly flat so you end up with small drop offs btw I made one and went back to a 4 way wedge which is faster.
