I use lemon pound cake cut into smaller pieces and drizzle with raspberry compote. Then layer like Kelly did. Homemade whipped cream, is a must! :)

This looks delicious! I make something very similar to this using angel food cake. Another thing I do is mash up some berries (frozen) to use as a "juicier" layer that soaks into the cake, then use the fresh berries to make it pretty. Its always a crowd pleaser!

Looks like it came out great. I've made this a few times. Need to make it again. I usually only put a few tablespoons of sugar in my whipped cream. Still taste sweet & delicious..

I make this samething except... I mix my heavy cream, then in separate bowl i mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, splash vanilla then I fold the coolwhip into cream cheese mixture!

That looks yummy, Kelly. Such pretty colors, too. Can I suggest a handy little kitchen tool you might enjoy? (Maybe you already have it?). It's an off-set spatula. It's like a round tipped knife with a step in it. It's great for spreading when you have to reach down inside a pan or bowl. They come in different sizes and are not expensive. A medium size works for most things. Have a very Happy July 4th! (:

I make a very similar recipe, only with a layer of vanilla pudding as well. SO yummy! I'm not very artistic with my desserts, so something like this is perfect! Another idea for trifle - chopped up chocolate bar and chocolate pudding instead of fruit and vanilla pudding. It's always a hit! :)

We are going to a cookout at my parents house. They have a pool, so the kids can swim. Their town has a small carnival and fireworks at night. So we will end the night there. But it's supposed to be rainy & in the 60's here in MA 😢 So I guess our plans could be ruined. Yes they are press on by the brand Impress. I found them at walmart. They don't require glue, but they don't seem to stay on as long as the ones that require glue. I still had some left in the package to use so I decided to add a touch of glue to them this time, so we'll see how long they last. Kiss brand is my favorite!

It is whipped cream not whipped topping! Whipped topping is Cool whip you have made whipped cream. Cool whip it was around when I was a kid but everybody always made whipped cream especially for 4th of July strawberry shortcake the way you this has been put together with frozen strawberries is a No-No for me. It looks nice but no no. :-)
