What I've heard so far is reminiscent of my work years ago (80s) as an independent contract rep for products/businesses. All the points you made are spoton. If your goal is to make big money fast, it will go as fast as it comes. For long term sustainability you have to sell youeself as a professional as well as seek out strong reputable products/businesses. The old saying holds true today! Easycome ,Easy go!

I've been attending a variety of different trade shows at the Javits Convention center since 1990. Although it's true that they are free to attend they have started, in recent years, requiring proof of website (or social media platforms where people can purchase your products), proof of orders (requiring a certain amount of merchandise purchased, e.g. $1.000 or more from several different vendors with dated invoices from the current year) in addition to the normal proof of a business license and certificate of authority. The Toy Fair Show started this process several years ago and it didn't matter that I had attended that show many times in the past or that my business information was already in their system. No website or business social media, no proof of purchases - dated invoices from legit companies - $1000 or more, no business credentials (registered business name, etc.), no entry. The NY NOW Show just implemented this for the August, 2023 show. With this in mind a person who is just starting out looking for potential vendors for drop shipping, white label, etc., will not be able to attend. You can, however, visit the website of a particular trade show, look up the exhibitors list, click on business' that drop ship/white label and call them.

For selling books, I wouldn't stray from Amazon. But for everything else, Shopify should be fine for you.
