Multis rule. Synths always suck at sax sounds due to this interesting overtone production and how they vary for each fingered note. Visualizing on a spectrum analyzer really helps with aiming at a specific overblown frequency... sounding it as a higher fundamental (?) . Mucho Kudos, Good Sir

So, it's somewhat similar to lipping up a note on brass. I recently got back into practicing sax and really need to focus more on these overtones, especially since I'm already familiar with the harmonic series from my low brass upbringing, lol

Yes. Learning embouchure control is important not just for altissimo but for tone development also

works well. Very good approach for high D. Then, keeping opening fingers is pretty easy to follow upper notes with keys of mid-range

Altissimo is so much easier on alto, I can reach the super high D on alto plus the splitones meanwhile I'm struggling so much for the A an A# on the tenor sax lol, it's a true mystery.

Embouchure friend, embouchure !!

I'm working on the alto altissimo book now and I have to agree that this is far easier on alto than on tenor. I believe the natural resistance within the alto facilitates this
@nairdazitro74603 жыл бұрын
@@Sirvalorsax Good to hear it.. Do you have a more relaxed embouchure on alto than on tenor too ? I can't blow out a single altissimo on tenor if I'm playing as relaxed as I do on the alto.
@shipsahoy17933 жыл бұрын
@@nairdazitro7460 You know I tend to agree with you.. I find that the combination of mouthpiece, reed, and embouchure have a big affect on how successful I am on any given day with the Altissimo notes, some more difficult than others, so I think embouchure control in spite of seemingly minor variations in the other variables is a big part of it. I’m “relaxed” to begin with, so I find that altissimo is easier on tenor for me always, and I play alto less frequently. Everybody’s different, but I probably need to play alto more😮
@Sirvalorsax3 жыл бұрын
@@nairdazitro7460 No!!! My embouchure on alto is tighter than on tenor. For soprano, I use an embouchure more similar to tenor. My embouchure for alto is still more relaxed than the "standard" lip in embouchure.
