This is awesome I have a ton of this stuff at my job, and I have the exact same bed rack. Good stuff my guy.

Awesome! And thank you. This has worked great for us. There have been a couple good comments suggesting drilling a hole in a bolt and putting a pin through it for quick release. Might try that!

Why did you use u bolts when you could just bolt it to the bar that you drilled holes in?
@dattran63723 жыл бұрын
Also why bolt the boards to the strut? If I need the boards I don't want to have to find a ratchet to get them off. Stupid.

You will hesitate to pull these off because it's too hard. Go a longer bolt and drill a hole in it to put a pin/padlock through or something.

We got another comment saying something similar. That’s a good idea. It’d be easy to do that’s for sure. I just wanted to put something quick and easy together for the video to help inspire people with a DIY.

@@TrailBendersOverland the uni strut looks incredibly handy. I’ll add that to some of my builds for sure

Awesome! I’ve used it on so much now. Came up with a pretty sweet WaterPORT mount using the unistrut on my 4Runner. Thanks again for your input!

So are they a permanent bolt on or is the ratchet in the center console if you use them make sure you don't loose the nutters ay

Love it man! This is the exact DIY mod I'm doing on my rack (I think it's the same model you have from TuffStuff). Have you come up with any security/locking feature to prevent/deter theft??

Did you add the bolts to your trax? If that’s the case I might try that before buying the extreme.
@TrailBendersOverland4 жыл бұрын
We didn’t. I’m sure you could somewhat easily though. These are the gen 2 action trax. The come like that outta the box! Much better than the plastic knobs. That’s where they always burn off.

Well atleast it looks good but would suck to get bogged in some mud and then have to get the freakin tools out just yo get at your maxtrax. Probs would have been cheaper to use a square alu bar and use some long bolts facing outwards then could put a wing nut over the top, would probably be cheaper than buying unistruts and the special nuts

U have to use a ratchet to get them off martin Thailand 😎
@TrailBendersOverland4 жыл бұрын
You do. We keep tool kits in all our trucks so it’s a quick and easy removal.
@micahwest53474 жыл бұрын
@@TrailBendersOverland I think you should revisit how you attach the boards as well. They may come off easy with the ratchet when they are nice and clean but imagine trying to get them back on once they are covered in mud. Use some ingenuity and figure out something with some cotter pins or something so we can copy you.

@@micahwest5347 we’re in the middle of a huge project right now building a custom deuce and a half. The first of 12 episodes just released last Friday. When it’s done though I have an idea based on what you wrote for these tracks.

Way too difficult to remove. Add another unistrut rail, then 4x T-Bolts.
