🤔How do you pronounce Scone? Rhyming with "gone" or rhyming with "cone"? 🤣What goes on first, the clotted cream or the jam?

350 g plain flour
1 pinch salt
1 level Tbsp baking powder
85 g unsalted butter in small pieces
30 g caster sugar
175 g whole milk or buttermilk
10 g lemon juice
1 large egg for glazing
Preheat the oven to 220C / 200C Fan / Gas Mark 8. Line a large rectangular tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.
Place the flour, salt, baking powder, butter, caster sugar, milk and lemon juice in the mixing bowl. Combine 20 Sec. / Speed 6.
Transfer the mixture onto a lightly floured surface and roll out without working the dough too much to about 4cm thickness. Using a 5cm round cookie cutter dipped in flour to cut out the scones. Place each on the prepared tray.
Beat the egg in a small bowl with a fork and, using a pastry brush, glaze each scone. Then bake for 10 minutes until risen and golden brown. Remove and leave to cool a little before serving.

Love your videos. FYI, a Cornish cream tea is jam first then cream, whereas a Devonshire cream tea is cream first, then jam. Keep up the good work.

I’m looking forward to trying this recipe as a new Thermomix® owner. I’ve made scones the traditional way for many more years than I care to remember. 😬 I don’t like cream so I have butter and jam but my English husband loves jam and cream on top. We don’t sandwich, we prefer to heap on the butter/jam/cream twice. 🤤
