When making a pompon I use 2 pieces of cardboard. The threat to tie it all together then goes between the two pieces of cardboard! So much easier.
@taramarion33013 жыл бұрын
Tassels are WAY easier to tie BEFORE you cut. Tie top, then tie around, then cut. Also, put thread on Pom Pom before you cut. You can lay on template before you wrap the thread/yarn or use an embroidery needle to add it after wrapping, but before cutting.

@@DJoy222 tie off your pieces before you cut to loops. Tie one piece of string at the top, then tie the piece around. When you’ve done that THEM cut the end loops to make them loose tassels.

Alexandra ! Snow spray ? I cannot believe you never heard of snow spray ! I'm 60 years old and when I was a child, we could buy stencils to make Christmas decorations in windows with it : Santa, his sleigh, Bethleem star, etc.

Fifty-six here, and remember snow spray from my childhood. We used that stuff for years (until my mom got sick of cleaning it off the windows after Christmas, Lol!). And lots of stores use it as part of their window decorations.

Pom Pom making tip. Take you template and double it. Sandwich the two together then wrap your string or yarn. Then you can run your scissors between the two pieces of cardboard to cut your string...then take your piece of string and thread it around to make it easier to knot! Your poms will be more even and full 😉

To make pom-poms with cardboard, just make 2 of the shape Alexandra showed, use them on top of each other. When you’re done putting tread around the 2, you will simply slide your scissors (no matter the size) between the two slice of cardboard. You won have to cut it and will be able to reuse it ;)

@anniejones54023 жыл бұрын
I was thinking this too, she made it harder than it had to be lol. When you use two layered you can also easily slide some wool in between the two pieces of cardboard to secure it after you've cut the wool.
@theodorafaux3 жыл бұрын
Yes when I was a kid we used 2 circles of cardboard, cut through the wool by poking the scissors between the two pieces then put a piece of wool in between them, looped a couple of times and tied off. The you just remove each of the circles by pulling them over each side of the pompom wool.

Alexandra!!! You need to cut 2 templates and put it together to make a pompon... Wrap your yarn around the template as you do and then you can put your scissors between the 2 templates to cut... Then you can. Place a piece of yarn between the two templates to make a knot so you can take the pompon off the templates

Loved the vases filled with pine. I'd been looking for a winter decor ideas for the whole season annd this fits and is so easy! Did youu know that the bottle brush tree decor item is vintage? Fake snow is too. Your idea of using bottle brushes is brilliant and the colors you choose brought this idea up to date.

The easiest way to make a pompom with a cardboard template is to use 2 pieces of cardboard and wrap both with yarn at the same time and when full enough slide a piece of yarn in between the 2 pieces and tie in a knot, then slide the scissors between the 2 pieces and cut between both pieces of cardboard. It makes for a fuller pompom

I like these ideas, but I feel like they kind of fell flat with execution...I know I would have been sad with how these turned out had they been my finished projects. I think although the tree skirt was under $20 it still should have been sewed, especially if you're planning on keeping it for years (and I feel at this point, any DIY that I invest my money and TIME into, I'm willing to spend a little more of both to make sure it turns out exactly the way I want and will last me a long time) I think these ones just missed the mark but am still looking forward to your next video!

I think this is the kind of content that probably shouldn’t have passed quality control and been published. I’m sure the intention was good and it seems like you felt the pressure to not let your audience down, that’s why you opted for low effort content while time and energy is probably going into the studio makeover. Personally I’d rather you spend a 5-10 minute vlog explaining the lack of craft/design content than a 15 minute video breaking down kindergarten crafts to an adult audience, with results that I wouldn’t even pick up from the a thrift store for free. You are so much better than this, Alexandra. And it’s okay to take your time and work on larger projects, the audience appreciates quality over quantity.
