That's a good looking knot. Berkley has a really good version called "The improved albright" I've been using it for a while. Its pretty good but the last half can be a bit fidgety. I'm defs going to give this a go and see how it is. Cant go wrong with a Ryan Moody fishing tip.

Thank you very much U fix the problem I always faced with Albright Knote.
@Mark--Todd5 жыл бұрын
Excellent, many thanks. I've had the FG fail using it as a wind on leader due to the knot contacting the guides and undoing the locking knots. This knot solves that issue for me.

Ryan, I had some trouble tying the knot. The problem I was having was at the end when cinching the knot the mono leader just slipped right through. What was I doing wrong?

good day mate. I've always used a swivel w/ spin reel thinking this prevents line twist. my cobia free line go to 6' diawa beefstick rod 7K series reel braided 60LB line has twisted. is it possible to untwist, or can twisted braid still be used? thanks Mate
@RyanMoodyFishing4 жыл бұрын
steve leston not that I know of. If I got charter clients that twisted it up I would just pull it off and replace with new.

Ryan, fantastic video. I need some advice. I'm a surf caster with heavy equipment, in Texas we fish for bull reds, shark and Jack crevelle. On my multiplier reel I have 50lb braid. What knot do you recommend joining my braid to about 150 yards of 30lb top shot. Should I use bimini then modified rnf. Albright or just the f.g.. I cast about 150 to 250 gram sinkers.
@evanmiris57655 жыл бұрын
I would just stick with the FG knot , or you can get a Bobbin knotter . Google up how to use a Bobbin knotter and it will show you the best, thinnest and 100% line strength knot and how to tie it .

I have been using the Shout bobbin knotter for over 10 years now and have never had it let go.

FG is pretty easy to tie I reckon. No harder than a bimini in my opinion
@paulthomas1513 Жыл бұрын
So you tie a bimini twist first and then go trough all that carry on. Alot of people have trouble with the bimini first. Then to follow up with the next Knot, bit too much for me. Not putting shit on your channel as I have purchased a couple of your Sounder skill tactics courses and absolutely love them but with practice you can tie the FG with Rositto knot alot quicker that this knot. Each to their own but hope you appreciate my feedback
@RyanMoodyFishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Ryan can tie a bimini and Albright in under a minute (closer to 40 seconds) which is very important on charter when it’s imperative you keep all clients lines in the water. You won’t catch big fish while you’re tying knots! And he’s also had several people who have brought their own gear lose big fish (we are chasing trophy fish) after their FG let’s go. If you follow his instructions on how to tie the Bimini, he shows you how to tie it in under 20 seconds. He does it by feel and doesn’t need to look at what he’s doing so he can watch the other lines on the boat at the same time. Yes I once filmed him tying it blindfolded and he did it in under a minute. For Ryan - and as you said it’s all personal preference - but for Ryan, he always uses a bimini Albright - for speed and reliability. He has come up with a neat way to tie the FG faster which is also on this channel. The FG is certainly a good knot there’s no denying it.

Ryan Moody Fishing yeah Ryan have you tried the fg with a ruzzuto finish
@RyanMoodyFishing6 жыл бұрын
Ethan A he prefers the Bimini Albright to the FG. He can tie them so quickly which gets lines back in the water and have accounted for over 2000 metre plus Barra. But it’s horses for courses. If you prefer the FG it’s a really great knot and many people swear by it. Cheers Team Moody
@ethana10176 жыл бұрын
Ryan Moody Fishing can l just ask why you don't like the fg?
@RyanMoodyFishing6 жыл бұрын
It's not that he dislikes the FG. Its a good knot and if you prefer it as many do, use it. As I already mentioned, Ryan prefers the bimini albright as he can tie it fast (blindfolded in under a minute - I actually did blindfold him once and it was amazing it's somewhere in our archives) - so he can tie it without looking, super fast, and it has never let him down. It's always important to Ryan to have baits in the water so speed is very important and while the FG is a very strong knot, after 30 years on charter the bimini albright has never let him down and he has caught some BIG fish. Remember he is over 50 now haha and its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. So we are NOT saying he doesn't like the FG. He just prefers the bimini albright. Ryan is very much a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kinda bloke. But if you prefer the FG - 100% use it. Cheers Team Moody
