I saw a tutorial that the Japanese made and you can’t understand them. Although they the pictures are good and they use their finger where you have to so but I would love to have something that you would make and it’s so easy when you do it. Again I love your show. Thumbs up on everything you do. Thank you Diane Ernest.

At 22:55, why do you pull the lining away from the bag when you do the top stitch? Usually you top stitich them together, right??
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
Haha yes, in many patterns we do. The goal is to not top stitch the side edges of the outer panel, since that creates a messy bulk. So often we'll top stitch the lining and exterior along the zipper, but start and stop before we get to the side edges. Another option is to just exclude the lining from top stitching, and top stitch along the entire top edge.

Love your channel and videos! Been sewing for years, mostly craft stuff that’s why I love all your projects. What’s your take on it?
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the bag you're making. Bigger bags with a lot of cork and vinyl, I don't worry about it because I won't throw it in the washing machine. Snack pouches, duffel bags, items that I know will get a lot of abuse... I will prewash those fabrics.

I’m curious why woven fusible interfacing instead of non-woven. I’ve seen both being used on bags so is it just a matter of personal preference or does woven have some particular advantage? Thank you!
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
From my experience, non woven interfacing is used when you really want the bag to be firm. Woven interfacing is good when you don't want the fabric to stretch or fray, but still want it to be drapey.
