I have "felt" this problem every time I've sewn a box corner, but never could explain it. What a relief to know that I can simply cut that kite bump off.

I've never seen anyone do this but I figured it out myself years ago. It just makes sense. It's like when sewing pillows....you need to sew a curve down to the point instead of sewing a straight line. A straight line will give you long, empty pointed corners where a curved line hugs the pillow insert, filling out the corners. Little tricks like this give professional results!

I also went to a bag making retreat and adjusted your pattern to me a two tone zipper pouch. Many of the participants took that pattern and made their own versions as well. I don't cut the corners. I prefer to leave the corners and fold the fabric to get the triangle shape and then measure and mark your line. Sew on the line then cut the triangle off leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. What's nice about sewing is that it's all personal preference. This is a great tutorial for those that like to cut the corners out.

One of the best purse tutorials that I have watched ! Will have to check the pouch I’ve sewn to see the difference. Kept it very simple and that is super important to me. I just checked my my Blue Wren pouch die, I did the cut to make bottom lie flat. Super easy fix. I’ve made so many of these bags,but this tutorial gives very directions.
