Thank You so much for your tutorial. I have Breast Cancer and with the cold months coming ahead I was looking for a pattern on a beanie for my head. I have lost my hair due to Chemo. I will use your pattern to make myself a Pink Beanie so that my head will be warm until I am done with my chemo. Thank You Thank You Thank You for such an easy way to make this beanie. And I really like the way you finished it off with the fpdc and the bpdc. And the Pom Pom just added that extra touch. God Bless You for what you are doing and showing us beginners. 🙏🏼😇👏🏼

Such an easy pattern and awesome looking hat. Was done in less than 15 minutes. Thank you for being such a great teacher, easy to understand, you explain without over explaining and making it boring and losing interest or forgetting where a person is at. Perfect. I've now made two beanies by following your pattern 😊 I'm so grateful for your video as I'm a complete beginner and the written pattern was a bit daunting but I love that you've explained everything here and didn't assume that we'd already know certain things ☺ I've never done bpdc/fpdc before but now I've mastered it, thanks to you! I made my second beanie slightly longer so I could fold the ribbing up and it's turned out pretty good. I will say, as a complete beginner, it's probably best to keep using your stitch markers during the ribbing rounds as I lost count at first on my first beanie but I eventually figured it out 😅 You're a great teacher, thank you so much! 🥰

Hi, Bonnie! Thank you so much for making this video so easy to understand for a beginner! I printed your instructions and used them this past year each time I made beanies. I donated a huge box of beanie/scarf sets to a local charity at Christmastime, and it was a highlight of the whole year for me. I LOVE your teaching style, and I LOVE the way the beanies are so easy to make and beautiful when finished. This coming year, I only want to make beanies for children of all ages and sizes and donate them to local hospitals. I am wondering if you have some kind of chart that shows how many inches long and wide a beanie should be for the various sizes of infants and children. I assume that a teen/adult hat would mostly be one-size fits all. I would love to receive any advice or help you can offer! Thank you for the gift of this video! You were the answer to this timid beginner's prayer!

Love the color of your beanie. I just finished mine. Not crazy about the color of the yarn but it was given to me..was going to mail it to my brother up north but not sure about the color for him...also not sure if it would fit his big head..LOL. Anyway, did two rows of the fpdc/bpdc then decided to do two rows of just sc bc I wanted a bit of a tighter rim bc if I decide to keep it, I need it to fit snug over my very thick hair..lol. Hi, Bonnie. I am just working on your Easy Breezy Beginner's Crochet Beanie and found that Round 5 pattern instructions does not indicate that at the end of row 5, there are 2 stitches left after the repeat. The video indicates that the last 2 stitches are 2dc in the first stitch and 1dc in the last stitch to have 60 stitches in the round. If I hadn't followed the video, I would not have known what to do with those last 2 stitches. Thank you for the lovely pattern. It's one that I will use frequently.

You may need to put it down for a few days and then try again Becky. Sometimes our brains need to rest and then we can see it better. There’s a lot going on in the brain when learning the art of crochet. Just takes time for all of us and the learning curve at the beginning can be the hardest.😊

Bonnie thank you and blessings! This is absolutely the best tutorial I've seen for the best beanie cap with no seams. The concept is fantastic working in the round like amiguri, but I find the finish of the front post and back post double crochet annoying. The posts end up being in the shape of a spiral and not horizontally even completely around the hat. Any tips on how we can get the posts to be more horizontally even? Thank you.
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 5 жыл бұрын
Papabear's Corner if you join your yarn (as if you are working in rounds) before beginning the ribbing and work a chain 2 at the beginning of each ribbing round, you should be fine. I believe this is the way I worked this hat.😊

@@rlarviso I think I understand. It will not be exactly as even as those hats that leave a turning chain line, but I don't think others will notice or even know how to see what you and I can see in this regard.

Hi, How many stitches should you start with for a small child's hat, and how many inches long?

Love your pattern, so easy to follow. Question, how would one add a second color to this beanie? I'd line to do a beanie that has a cuff, the cuff being a different color. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 5 жыл бұрын
You can easily change to the second color right before starting the ribbed section.

I am trying to teach myself and am thrilled that I'm really learning! I was able to make this hat, so far up to the border. I can't seem to find the free version of the written instructions to try to learn how to read them instead of just following videos. Can anyone please help?

Ok, thank you. But the video says "you can download the pattern for free"? And when I looked at the link, I'm confused because there is one for $1.99 and also says "a free version is available".

Hi, I'm making this for my daughter (age 6). She would like two colours in it, how do I do the colour change and at what row would you suggest the change? I have just finished row 6 (skipping row 5 as per the youth instructions). Thanks in advance :)

Hello! Love your tutorial and want to start one beanie now, but I don't have a 5.5mm hook. Only 5.00mmm and 6.00mm. Which one would you suggest? Thank you.
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
Great question Valia! Let me ask you a question: do you tend to crochet more tightly or more loosely? If you tend to crochet tightly, go with the 6.00 mm; if you tend to crochet loosely, go with the 5.00 mm. There should be enough ease in this design to make either of these hooks work.

Most craft stores now carry pompoms like this. I did see some at Joanne Fabrics just yesterday. If you don't have a craft store near you, most have online stores now where you can order these.

I would recommend finding another pattern using DK weight yarn. Another option is working an additional increase row on this hat before working the rows that maintain a constant stitch count. That may be enough to make the DK yarn work for you.

Just keep working the additional rounds. As long as you are not adding stitches at this point (and if your stitch count is following the video), you should be fine.

I have done eight rounds and the hat appears to bowl shape, but doesn't look "snug" enough on my head. What should i do? I know I need to add more rows, but will that just make it even more floppy.
@BonnieBayCrochet
@BonnieBayCrochet 5 жыл бұрын
carol deans you may need to check your stitch count to be sure you are not adding extra stitches. If that isn’t the problem, you may need to use a smaller hook size. I recommend downloading the free written pattern to check your stitch gauge.
