Staghorns grow all over Australia...I have many mounted but I have started growing some in terracotta which has turned out fantastic as they have virtually swallowed the pots and look amazing. Staghorns grow in extremes of weather here. Very hot dry in summer, and frost cold in winter.

I wanted to get a Platycerium superbum for months but the only Platyceriums I see in shops everywhere are bifurcatium here in Germany. Even rare plant shops only have bifurcatium.

This was a great idea! Carrying it one step further, I think we should think a little further outside the box for those friends of ours who want to get into plants but aren't sure where to start. No one has ever visited my collection and melted over any of the very common plants, beautiful as they are. They've been seen elsewhere a million times. But a really easy to grow plant like the Syngonium erythrophyllum, with the black/green leaves and maroon undersides? Everyone comments on that one, and it's dirt cheap. Congrats on the fancy new technology, Memo...! Cheers

I had a staghorn for like a year and a half was doing ok then it just rotted out randomly, it never really thrived in my care, I live in Las Vegas though so humidity is extremely low, I can tell yours is much higher since it's next to a happy begonia which are impossible in my humidity.

Sorry to hear about your staghorn! Humidity can be a challenge, especially in dry climates like Vegas. Maybe consider a humidifier if you really want to grow them, or completely get not wanting the hassle, there are also many other great options like the Anthurium Arrow or the Monstera Pinnatipartita ? 🌵💦

👋👋👋 Yes, my Anthurium Arrow is indeed in soil, and it's thriving. It really is an easy, non-fussy Anthurium. I have just given mine a moss-filed pot extension to contain the roots, which were growing out the top of the soil. Hopefully, they will be encouraged to grow back down into the soil, and make it easier to propagate 🤞🤞 The roots and the plant sure do grow fast.

Hey Carey 👋👋👋 so glad I remembered right and you were kind enough to confirm that even in soil it is super easy going. Your Anthurium Arrow seems to be thriving! Love the moss-filled pot idea 🤞.

Great video, Memo 👋 I really enjoy the camera movement - it´s so much fun :-D Cool addition to your tech setup 😃 I just expanded my wishlist :-) I particularly like the Superbum - it looks magnificent mounted up. I have had hoya australis Lisa for nearly 2 years: for me one of the most beautiful hoyas, but I suspect I might have flatmites on her ever since I brought her home (and failing to get rid of them). Yours is truly splendid :-) Looking forward to the no-moss pole video :-) I don´t enjoy the maintenance of moss-poles either 😀

The platyceriums don't have roots as we think. The roots are mainly there to support and grab onto trees/branches in the wild. You can cut all off the "roots" and it should be fine. It respirates via the fronds and likewise grab moisture via th fronds. At home, the shield will grow around whatever medium you put it in. In my case, without roots, it wrapped around my ficus benjamina. Having said that... I love staghorn ferns. They are super easy.

I loved the moving camera, such a cool gadget 😃 On the subject of hoyas in semi-hydro, I lost quite a few last winter by leaving a water reservoir in the self-watering pots or in a water tray, all to root rot. I started to just water as normal, let drain and place back with better results. So this yewd I have already started reducing the water levels with the aim of having no standing water by the end of October and going through the winter. I will then start adding small levels of reservoirs from the end of February and increase through the Spring. The only hoyas that retain any form of reservoirs are my 3 Hoya Bellas and the Hoya chinghungensis, as they are perpetually thirsty plants. BTW, your Hoya australis Lisa is a beast 😮😍

I must've missed your conversation with North. What are those mounts about? Lol, the top growth point on your PBMV looks like the head of some weird unicorn lizard. :D Sweet! I find the Anthurium Esmeraldense super easy and forgiving. I am failing with my Monstera Pinnatipartita. Gets on my nerves. It's been with me for 2 years or more and it never had more than one leaf at a time. At the moment it does have 2. But still frustrating. Perhaps I should try a janky support stick. :D Love me a good Hoya Australis Lisa. Find them super hardy, as well.

I grow my Arrow in anthurium mix from soil ninja, in a terracotta pot on my kitchen window it's the most happy and delightful plant. In my opinion it is the easiest anthurium to grow (I grow alot of them) it grows quite fast (it's almost out grown it's space) flowers often and I've never *touch wood* had any issue with it. It's flowering now and so is my crystallinum I was gonna see if it would cross I've asked about an noone seems to know 🤷🏻‍♀️ fun experiment 😂

Just loved this video to bits! You got me, just ordered a P. burle marx variegated, an Anthurium arrow and the Monstera. Will see how they grow for me. I have a Hoya lisa, got root rot twice, managed to save 1 of the 2 cuttings, so I bought a more advanced rooted plant to pot up with the lonely one, so far doing well. I’m sure I was too generous with the watering for this Hoya, learnt my lesson!

Hey Memo! I love Platyceriums! I have been adding a lot of them to my collection, and I have been growing them from spores too! I found them pretty easy in general, even the tiniest seedling and offset survive really well! I also found them to really like to dry out a bit too, and they can tolerate underwater pretty well. Some of the cultivar from Asia are truly stunning! I really want to get a cup shaped anthurium! I have been eyeing the Anthurium lentii Ecuagenera for a while now, I think will pick them up next time they go on sale!
