Thanks for uploading and providing the sheet music for this. I'm not quite there yet, but I think I'm close. It's definitely not as easy as I thought it would be and reading sheet music is really hard for me. This is excellent practice. Merry Christmas!

Beautiful! I love the strong harpsi -sound 😍🌟 I hurt my wrists with too much bass for first days of owning it, beginner's luck, can't play for few days so I practice theory and learn to read notes. Mark, your lessons are *the best* holiday gifts ever! Have a happy, peaceful and safe holidays, Hyvää Joulua from Finland 🇫🇮🎁

I use flat-wounds, so I found it funny when you slid up to the 18th fret on your round-wounds. I reckon I'll be switching over to round-wounds soon, though, just to see how tough my calluses are. Flat-wounds are a breeze to play on, especially if you're sliding up and down.
@MrStanmc3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Those were my thoughts too, as soon as he started sliding...love my flat wounds, and can't see myself ever switching back. Nice rendition though!
@nikobellic11913 жыл бұрын
@@MrStanmc Yeah, I've used the same set of flats almost every day for a couple of years now. They're low maintenance and cheaper in the long run. Great for playing electronic music and hip hop. I also practice master of puppets with them, but they do sound weird as soon as you start slapping and popping. Just my opinion. What do you think?
@pierrelefebvre16083 жыл бұрын
Funny, I find mine sticky and not easy for sliding 🥺
@MrStanmc3 жыл бұрын
@@nikobellic1191 I'm very much a traditional bass player and not really into the slapping and popping style of playing so I'm probably not the right person to give an opinion on that. I've always preferred a tradition bass sound with very little treble so the sound of flat wounds suits me right down to the ground. What I love most about them is the ease with which you can slide and the almost complete lack of string noise as you move around the fret board. Not sure if all flat wounds have the same qualities but, for what it's worth, I'm using Ernie Ball Slinky 45 to 105 and they're as smooth as silk to play.
@nikobellic11913 жыл бұрын
@@pierrelefebvre1608 Sticky?! That's strange. Maybe, at some point, you had sticky fingers and transferred the stickiness to your strings. I always make sure my hands are clean and dry. I also use a toothbrush and a lint-free cloth to clean my bass. Whenever my hands start sweating, I make sure to wipe them and my bass down, making sure to remove any dampness from my bass. This is done roughly once every couple of hours during practice. P.S. It's true, when it's cold the strings do feel a little sticky, but that goes away as soon as I'm warmed up.

I used some half rounds to play this at first. I switched to round wounds for a more piano like tone. Bad move. So noisy. What am I doing? Playing bass or playing basketball? Squeak squeak squeak.
