Easy coin button LEDs for an Arcade1Up X-men Cabinet using a Retro530 kit

I love my Arcade1Up X-men cabinet, and I play it a lot. However, something has been missing on it for sometime, and that something is lighted coin buttons on the front panel. After finding an LED lighting kit from RETRO530 on Etsy.com, I ordered one and easily installed it in less than 45 minutes. Watch this short video, and you can do the same thing to your X-men cabinet (or TMNT or Simpons cabinets) as well.

Are all Arcade1up PCB usb connectors wired similarly with power on outside pins? Looks great!!.

Hello Jim. I'm sorry, but I don't really know the answer to the USB question. My guess is they are all made exactly the same way. RETRO530 was the first after-market seller that I purchased a lighting kit from to use the USB instead of tapping into the marquee socket. I've since seen others use it, so I'm going to guess it's pretty standard. I just picked up an A1Up Street Fighter Yoga Flame cabinet, and I need to do the same thing to that one, as the coin buttons are also not lit. Have a great weekend!

So would you say the best way to install is to put machine better first? I have 2 to put together and debating whether to put machine together first or drill the coin door stuff first.

If you’ve not assembled the cabinet yet, drill the holes for the LEDs now. It’s far easier while the panel is not installed. Even if you don’t have the parts from Retro 530 yet, if the holes are already drilled, you can just slip the LEDs into place by removing the back panel. Good luck with the project.

I would think you would want the buttons to be on all the time even when the machines not on just a personal preference.

You could have the buttons always lit, but you’ll need a separate 5 volt supply for the LEDs. That way, when the game is switched off, the buttons will still light up.
