Thanks for showing your process! It's detailed enough to get the look your want, but not so complicated that it slows down your editing process. I've been editing in Davinchi Resolve, and I've not found a good gamma/color space setting for Sony HLG footage when it comes to color-managed projects. I end up getting better results by just bypassing the color space settings for HLG footage and manually correcting the shots like you are doing. Hopefully, I'll figure out a better way to take advantage of the HLG color space in the future.

Sorry if these questions are too noob - I've been trying and failing with HLG profiles for a long time and I end up using Cine2 SOC... 1. I assume these steps would work for specific settings for HLG3.. What settings should I use? And should I take any special steps such as under/over exposing or anything like that. 2. The steps you mentioned - Do I have to do that for every single clip? Or do I copy paste the settings or use an adjustment layer or something?

You can always use HSL to specify on changing/isolating a color

Do you know why HLG footage looks darker when they're in premiere pro timeline?

The point of HLG is that it shouldn't be colour graded, without a very bright HDR monitor for editing your final export might look completely different when you see your video on an HDR display. A lot of people are desaturating their HLG files but when the HDR finally gets processed a lot of vibrant colours will look washed out

Technically the process is wrong. Please dont use the hlgfootage as it is. Convert it to rec 709. Also, the white balance method is not exactly right since! You should mention that these methods that you have explained is not the actual method to grade hlg footages!
