For those needing to increase the base of the hat, this is what helped me: Repeat Row 4 exactly as shown in the video. Then for the next row repeat these steps: use a size bigger hook for this row and lighten your tension just a little -> ch3 2dc in same stitch -> ch1, skip 1 gap and 3dc into the next gap -> ch1 skip gap and 3dc into the next gap. Do this all the way around. This will flatten the top of your hat slightly, it will not be completely flat and perfect but it will look very good in the end, trust the process. Hope I could help some of you out!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say I’m order to make a bigger or smaller sized hat it’s about the amount of stitches on the first row that creates the circle. For an average Womens size head it’s usually 12-13 stitches to start off. I hope this helps you.

Thank you for the tutorial! May you give us a clearer description on how to increase the crown of the hat? I think this is the comment you are referring to when people ask but I was under the impression that you can only increase by adding an increase row. Not necessarily the starting stitches. I appreciate your help!

Every time I add an additional row of increases, my hat starts to ruffle up is this normal??
@petitechiroptera13477 ай бұрын
This is typically indicative of too many stitches. You can correct this by either skipping a few increases, or restarting your project and carefully counting your stitches because chances are you might’ve missed some leading up to the increases.
@SaigeTatum7 ай бұрын
Mine did this too and I just went with it thinking it would work out. It did not! I’m wondering how we should increase beyond what she has already done if we need a larger size.
@petitechiroptera13477 ай бұрын
@@SaigeTatum I’d recommend using a larger hook (seriously, it’s a world of difference), doing an increase row after every 2 regular rows if you’re struggling with ruffling, or starting with more stitches on the first row since this pattern uses less than normal (It’ll change your stitch count, but you should still be able to follow the same formula).

i had the same issue (both with the initial size not fitting and with the wavy edges) so i tried something similar to row 4-5: ch3 & dc into same stitch // 2dc into middle of previous cluster of 3 2dc in next space 2dc into next space, repeat (from //) then in the next round, 3dc in each space as normal. it’s basically an increase but skipping one in between. it worked out for me (since i also had to account for my hair) so i hope this helps !! :)
