I’ve made 5 of these so far, making small amendments each time to get the right size. I’m a tight crocheter, and on the hat I am making now I am using a 7mm hook and it looks like it will be a perfect fit. I definitely recommend sizing up a hook size or two, rather than adding more increase rounds so it keeps the same shape. Amazing tutorial, thank you!!!

I use my left over yarn, sizes 2 and 3. Using 5mm hook. Made 6 inches on 5th row. Your instruction is amazing. I am a newbie, but I can understand even without written stitch count. WITHOUT STITCH MARKER!! And no dizzy counting! Just flowing. haha it is new to me. Looking at your hand working makes me feel crocheting is that easy and relaxing. just made this hat in the span of maybe 1.5-2 hours, off and on, and omg it's the fastest little thing. so cute. I didn't change the colors I just went straight on with one color. for those wondering when you don't change the colors it uses almost the entirety of one "I love this cotton" skein when you do the one-row longer version so you only need to buy one skein for this project. Amazing, just love it.

You could repeat row 4 but that will make the hat very large. Try starting round 1 with 14 dc instead of 12. Then follow the steps for the rest of the rounds.
