What's the point of a crockpot when everything is already cooked?
@veroniquesil77504 ай бұрын

I've always read that dairy should never go in the crockpot at the beginning of a recipe, that it will curdle in longer cooking times. So any recipe I make with dairy in the crockpot, I always add it in the last half hour or so. Her mac and cheese is way too thick. I'd have to thin it out with some milk.

The Velveeta is processed cheese. I used to made nachoes in big crock pots for gatherings for years, then finding out Velveeta is processed, i dont use it. But i would for a big pitch in, for just my household no..... Proceed Velveeta!!! It does make good mac & cheese but, i make pasta salads now, with fresh olives, chopped onions, shread carrots, and shreaded cheese i can shread myself on kitchen aid mixer. With Kens Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing. Delicious!! Looks good, but, my, this mac & cheese is a heart attack on a plate. Mac& cheese with real cheese is good, but velveeta is processed. Velveeta may look like cheese, smell like cheese, and even taste like cheese, but it is technically classified as a “pasteurized process cheese product.” Though Velveeta was originally made from real cheese (sure it was runoff, but still), it is now mainly whey protein concentrate, milk protein concentrate, milk, fat, and preservatives. It’s cheese adjacent.

@kims19414 ай бұрын
I found this online: Not a product I want to use. Velveeta is a shelf-stable cheese product made from substances including whey, milk, milk protein concentrate, modified starch, canola oil, and cheese culture. It has a smooth consistency, mild taste, and vivid orange hue. Besides being high in calories, Velveeta is high in fat and sodium. The nutritional information on the package shows that the product has 6 g of fat per serving, but with 32 servings per box, you'll consume 196 g of fat should you use an entire box of regular Velveeta in a cheese dip or recipe.

These commenters are aware the USA has a real health crisis and poor choices with unhealthy food products are the #1 reason. Big business pumps out the poison and the "health" industry CEO's and stockholders get wealthier. If the people would just research intelligently there would be less children suffering at St Judes and in hospitals around the world. Say what you will, healthy clean organic food cooked in a healthy manner cures. One thing you can do is stop using seed oils and switch to high grade cold pressed virgin olive oil. Just that one thing. I was supposed to die 40 years ago. Research and a diet change made the difference. My sweet Chi had maybe 6 months to live in 2020 said two Vets. Again research and diet change with good supplements and he is still here. Monitoring stress, healthy excercise and doing what gives you joy is important yet diet is key to good health. Please, just give it a try.

My 30 years of being a wife and a mother are screaming NO!😬 If you really want macaroni and cheese you can make it with everything fresh in under 20 minutes (with the exception of the pasta). I would use dried pasta for macaroni and cheese. Several different kinds of fresh grated cheese (I don't like pre shredded becausethe anti caking stuff they use is gross) , milk, mustard, mustard powder, cayenne (whatever spices you like), a tempered egg, fresh jalapeños, crispy bacon. . .the options are endless in mac and cheese.
