Main problem with such methods is excessive time consumption, you still have a lot to build manually. I’ve been tinkering with blueprinted curved rail scaffolding for a few days, and it works GREAT. I’ve never seen this done before, and you as I can see are interested in this kind of stuff, so let me know if you want to take a look

A thought for the free standing supports: would a small object like beams or beam connectors work better as a spacing item? The idea being that they will be overlapped and hidden inside the rails after the spacing work is done so they don't have to be deleted.
@Yakez42Ай бұрын
Well this is a nice idea! Outside of everyone concerned with negligible performance loss it is great way to speed up the process. Only make sure that beams are at least 4 meters in length. With smaller beams collision box is still 4 meters so it can have weird gaps.

@MARK2580Ай бұрын
It's beautiful, but you're making supports TOO OFTEN. You can make them two or even three times less often. It will look much better and will have a better effect on optimization.
@Yakez42Ай бұрын
52 meters spans for single supports are rather realistic atm. It was to often only when I was using 4x4 designer a year ago. In theory you can go for half pieces with two 6x6 and have 104 meter spans, but you need bigger platforms then since max rail span is 100 meters. And with viaducts and trestles it is the whole point to have something as often as possible. Never seen any real FPS issues regarding build pieces. It is always LED sings, conveyor belts and machinery that gets you. Not a bunch of foundations.

The most polite way to put it is that your way of making curves is way too convoluted. The simplest method is to just center a foundation on a corner, rotate 5 degrees, lock it, nudge 4 meters forward and 4 meters sideways and you've got a perfect 5 degree angle. Rince and repeat. When blueprinting, Delete the first set of foundations in the blueprint designer, save it and you've got something that you can snap to instead of having to mess around every time you want to make a curve. I have no need for that top limit you mention at 5:27. I can just snap and build an entire curve in the time it takes you to position 2 copies of that curve blueprint of yours.
@AndriasKosasihАй бұрын
Any video guide on this?
@Yakez42Ай бұрын
hmm... so technically making 5 degree offset of the whole curve section blueprint. I tried this way, but I never was able to put sequential blueprints into perfect alignment. Maybe something to do with overall shape or dimensions of some of my prints. Although probably it is possible. Also one of solutions was to make N amount of blueprints for N amount of turn steps to have perfect snaps in blueprint mode. But I skipped it to reduce amount of overall blueprints.
@jonathanlanglois2742Ай бұрын
@@Yakez42 It wasn't possible prior to 1.0. The combination of nudge and the addition of more snap points is what made this possible. For the shape, start at one end of the blueprint designer, make as many or as few 5 degree angles as you want, and then delete the first set of foundations. That's what makes it possible to snap curves together. It needs to be done in blueprint mode. You only really need 2 blueprints, a version for the left turn, and one for the right turn.
@ShamanNaoYukiАй бұрын
@jonathanlanglois2742 I'd like to see a video explaining this better. I'm not understanding exactly how you're able to snap curves together? Is there an easy way to do slopes? I spent so much time on placing blueprints that angled downward in update 8.
@jonathanlanglois2742Ай бұрын
@@ShamanNaoYuki For curves, there are at least a dozen videos on KZbin explaining this. For slopes, there's really no reliable way to snap them since we don't have vertical nudge, and don't have a way to determine where blueprint snap. You can blueprint a single segment so that you don't have do all of the decoration manually, but beyond that, the snapping points become really hard to manage.
@roelofversluis6680Ай бұрын
Lovely. I can never get my foundations to snap to the corner of another foundation, or get them to rotate when lined up. I have to use catwalks, that does rotate around the middle point, and build foundations against them.
@TAiiNEАй бұрын
An easy way is also... big pillars... They will snap to the center bottom of the rails. The bottom of rails have segments with a thicker line, if you align the thick pillars to that line, then place more roughly in the middle of those segments, you can snap foundations, or even blueprints to them to form any curve you want. Not just restricted to the angle you make a blueprint. That is how I designed my whole around the world train network with foundation and support curves following well, the curve I made my track. Now Im redoing it again in a frest 1.0 world doing the same thing. Plus it's stupid fast this way. Like, how fast can you zoop out a line of foundations? That's what I'm doing. I rotate around and zoop out sections of foundations, often not even connected to the last zooped batch to plan my path and be something for the rails to be laid on, can do a whole biome this way. Then segment by segment the foundations get removed, pillars go in their place, rail gets temped removed as my foundations and BP's snap to those pillars (they will snap on top, then you snap or ziio a foundation below to be at track height)... then rail gets added back. Boom done. I did a whole biome in 3 hours... ramps and all. With BP's it works best if they are 1 foundation front to back and not that wide to best form the curves. Rxckxt shows a summery version of how the trick works if you need a visual. He don't show it wioth BP's though but the premise is the same, you have your foundation and you build off of that in the same methood you would use to attach your BP's together. Only now your following the curve you made with your rail, and not forcing your rail to follow the curve you BPed out.
@Yakez42Ай бұрын
Chicken and Egg issue. First you need to create rail curve and only then build anything. Basically you are doubling the work for no reason. Next you have literally 0 tools to make even spacing on the curve by snapping big pillar from underneath. Thus anything complex like viaducts becomes impossible, only standalone supports can work. Like big pillar method is nice to make off ramps or U turns, but not the main track. The nice visual tool for big pillars is to make bp support the height of a single pillar and just replace top pillars snapped to rail with them. I already covered that in my year old rail support video.
@TAiiNEАй бұрын
@@Yakez42 "Thus anything complex like viaducts becomes impossible" ..............then I guess I should not say how I was doing just this today... or how I even do my truck roads using a rail as a road template to allow my BP's to follow and curve along. okay.... and I guess my whole rocky desert biome of 'main track' I did with this is my imagination. Good to know...
@Yakez42Ай бұрын
Once again how do you make precise connection print to print? There is no snapping points for pillars underneath rail. You can be close enough with eyeballing to have acceptable overlap, but then this not exactly ideal for slopes, where rail will just wobble on the longer slopes. And then how will you make rail wiggle in several directions on a span of several blueprints? Making floor first, putting rail next, and making pillars underneath to aim blueprints do not match set 5 degree blueprints that are always put on even spacing. It is just to irregular. Yes it would work most of the time, but not always. This game have so many ways of building stuff, that you never know for sure what is better. If I say that viaducts with irregular +- half a meter overlap is impossible, it does not mean that it is not acceptable for someone else. Like I have done plenty of rail gore in thousands hours of SF...
@TAiiNEАй бұрын
@@Yakez42 You... attach a foundation on top of the pillar, then snap one below it to be in line with the rail height, or to bring it down to the height needed to set the blueprint on top of? Like for me I zoop down 2 1m foundations and remove the top and pillar to attach my bp to. I'd throw you a screen shot but youtube will autp delete coments with links. I listed the youtuber before who also uses the methood to make curves.

🤫The incline of a track in a turn is a function of the train's mass and speed as well as the track's angle and turning radius. If you match it perfectly you won't even notice, because anytime you are accelerated by 1g to the train's floor. It's like standing. It has two major downsides in practice. Your train might need a minimum speed to not get damaged, not damaging the tracks or in the worst case fall over. The train will alter the shape of the turn over time. So you need to maintain that curve rather often. But it works great in rollercoasters.
