Although it looks difficult, this diagonal zippered bag is actually very simple.
In this video, I'll show you how to create and measure a pattern for your own personal needs. You'll also make it using two different zippers. No.3 dress zip, and No.5 continuous zips.
Whether it's a cell phone pouch, book bag, or laptop bag, you can make this quickly and easily in very little time.
Matilda's Own Fusible fleece is available at
stitchthis.com.au/product-cat...

For this project you will need...
60cm x 50cm (28" x 20") Main fabric & lining will make two bags
60cm x 50cm (28" x 20") Fusible fleece
9cm x 5cm (3 1/2" x 2") Tab for each bag
9cm x 55cm (3 1/2" x 22") Wristlet strap for each bag
25mm (1") D Ring for each bag
25mm (1") Swivel clip for each bag
Continuous zip & two sliders No.5
or
Regular dress zip No.3 x 2 (using smaller clips & D rings)

You can use French seams. Just make the measurements about a 1/4” larger.
@digging4roots
@digging4roots Ай бұрын
I've made lots of covers and what I find is really easy to determine the dimensions, is to wrap the tape measure completely around and take that measurement and divide it in half. It takes into account the height of the object. I then add an additional amount to allow for ease. Depending on how loose I want the fit and whether the lining may catch on items being pulled out, I typically add anywhere from 1/2" to 1" on each side which typically results in adding 2" to the circumference of both the vertical and horizontal measurements. I hope this makes sense.

Great tutorial and very clear. I do feel like if you’re going to use it for something like an iPad that using soft and stable would make more sense. The foam stabilizer would give it cushion for an electronic device. I know doing a lining like that, keeps you from having to do anything with your raw edges, but honestly, putting a little binding on the raw edges is not that hard, nor that time-consuming I think it would be better than the lining.

Can you make one of these larger bags with a 2"wide bottom of the bag to allow for th knitting projects??

You sure could Terry. Cut the fabric 1" longer to accommodate the boxed corners😊

Thank you for this tutorial, I'm gonna make two today. Also, question about the double sided tape, does it not make your needle sticky? Thank you...💜🥰😘

Jean, if you get the correct type of tape you will be fine. I did a comparison video a while back with links to the ones that work the best in the description😁 kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGHGhH9tq9qSfpIsi=RgVXZx8SpMBvD6uc

Christine, is that the Dollar Tree board behind you? Could you do a tutorial on it? I've been wanting one but not sure on how to assemble it. If it's not from DT, where did you get it? Love all your videos. Thanks.

Do you mean the pegboard at the back? It's from Ikea. They have tutorials showing how to put it together😀

I know I’m late to this game, but is there a reason you don’t quilt the lining to the other fabric and batt?

You're never to late to the game Cat. I prefer to line my bags without bindings. If I quilt all the layers, I'd have raw edges, or have to bind it😀
