*****UPDATE***** I can only attest to how the Dollar Tree fabric softener has worked in MY experience! A subscriber has messaged me saying that Downey left stains on her clothing!!!! Just wanted to add this update/warning!!!

Kelly Barlow Creations do the sponges have to be used fairly quickly after putting fabric softener on them. I was wondering if they would start to smell bad from being wet

When I use the sponge method (which isn’t as much as the wipes) I make the 10 and I use them that week! I don’t make anymore then what I’ll need for that weeks laundry for both methods! 💕

If you use distilled water instead of tap water they will last a lot longer. I used to make my own baby wipes and they never got moldy or stinky when I used distilled water. Even after a couple weeks they were still fine.

Here is an AWESOME tip for both of these...cut your fabric softener by half with white vinegar. It will make your clothes soft and fluffy and smell FABULOUS with ZERO build up that fabric softener alone can cause. It is frugal and better for your laundry and can even be added to bath towels, which is a general no no because it makes towels not absorb well. Add a cup of white vinegar into a large load of laundry and it boosts detergent of softens water too. I recommend cutting by half but I actually cut it 75 percent vinegar to 25 percent softener and love the softer scent. FYI, once clothes are dried the is NO vinegar smell left behind, only CLEAN! Have a very blessed day, angel!

Do you keep the vinegar and the fabric softener together all the time or do you add both as you put it in the washer

I don't use vinegar because I just can't toler3ate the smell. Otherwise, it's a great water softener

I read that vinegar isn’t good for the machine bits (technical term ;)) of the washer/dryer. That could just be a myth created by bounce!
@mommagamer4572

@@3orM00Rrecharacters Interesting. Not sure if this is true but it seems like it would be better than the fabric softener just building up over time inside the machines. On a side note, I’m sure Miss Kelly is happy that you commented on her video and helped bring it back up to the top……this is an older video lol 😝

@@denised3157 I use apple cider vinegar on my hair. The smell goes away after about 30 minutes. Try putting some vinegar on a paper towel before you cook a meal. After the meal is over, smell the dry paper towel. I think you will find no smell at all.

I've use the fabric softener with sponges for a few years now it saves a lot of money One thing I started when I got laid off to save money is to use Dawn the bottle that has the pump and it comes out in a foam I diluted that down and use it on stains because it's foam it attaches itself to the stain and that's all I have used since 2011 I think it works really well and lasts forever

Adding 1/2 fabric softener and 1/2 water works just as well, and you can use scrap cloth.

Ive been using the sponge method for about 2 years now. I would not go back to store dryer sheets for anything. I love that I can also rinse my sponges and sterilize then in the microwave every once in a while to prevent mold. I LOVE IT!

I usually don't comment on youtube videos but stumbled here by mistake watched and followed the tip what a great lifehack, but to take it even further use two sheets for blankets, comforters etc. used during the winter, after the dryer is done and store the sheets with along with the blankets to maintain the fragrance. Will be doubling up on the brillo's!

I have been using those Dollar Tree Brillo Basics Wipes for reusable dryer sheets for months. Since I am allergic to any fabric softener I use hair conditioner instead. I put one or two tablespoons of conditioner in two cups of warm water in a jar and shake it. Then I shake it every time I use it, and then submerge the wipes and toss them in the dryer. The amount of hair conditioner depends on how much static electricity you have to deal with. In warmer months I switch to vinegar and my favorite essential oils instead of conditioner and water since there is less static here in Alabama then.

Dollar Tree is my favorite retail store and I shop there often. However, I stopped using the Dollar Tree Liquid Fabric Softener because I had a very bad skin reaction to it after adding it to my laundry which included sheets, pillowcases and towels. The first time, I had no idea what was causing the skin reaction. When I used the Dollar Tree fabric softener again, the skin reaction was worse. The next time I did laundry, I did not use the Dollar Tree fabric softener and my skin healed and has been fine ever since. I switched to an inexpensive, but name brand fabric softener and had no negative skin reaction. Otherwise, I am a big fan of Dollar Tree items.

Thanks for sharing Kelly. Please keep bringing your great ideas to us. One of your demos was for drying towels with the sponges. I’ve read many places that using fabric softener with towels reduces their drying ability. I find a little vinegar is the wash helps freshen and soften them. Hope you’re having an awesome day!

Nice ideas here, girl, although. I would recommend sponges/cloth pieces WITHOUT any kind of scrubbie part (for sake of your fabrics). My mom always used the same ol' washcloth for her fabric softener...load after load. It was always dry at the end of the cycle, so she would put a splash of her softener on it & toss it back in with the next load. Not like she ever needed more than one (unless the current cloth wore out).

LuvPinkSocks 2015. I wash them like after 6 times of use .. I just toss them in the washer with the towels .. And as another tip... I use ammonia in my wash instead of bleach .. It takes out the body oils . and resido from deodent . my boys played football in school .. And the sweat and dirt . the bleach after time turns then yellowish the ammonia doesn't ... And I use Dawn dish soap. On the collars and armpits . and using ammonia in the wash also keep the washer clean .... I use 1-2 cups .. Depending size of the load And it leave no smell .. Just "DO NOT USE BLEACH & AMMONIA TOGETHER "
