Since she didn't really explain, she attached what looks like iron on interfacing to the "ribbon" fabric to make the final ribbon more stiff and give it the very flat ends to make it more cute. Otherwise the fabric might be too floppy.

When you tie it multpile times and wash it does it stay creased or easily ironed out?

Thankyou I noticed that. I presume its light/medium weight? Also I can't quite figure out how to change the sizing from hers to mine? Am I being totally dumb here as a novice sewer? ❤

@@donaunsworth5620you could try marking a rectangle for the bodice front. Measure from where you want the neckline to start (say your neck/top of your chest) to where you want it to end (say your waist) and that should be the height/width of the rectangle. Length can be half your bust measurement. Cut out the top corners like she did to account for your armpits, and then put the rectangle on your body to check the fit. You'll find places that need to be folded over/puckered/cut away for the bodice to fit your form properly, mark these as your darts. Two on the sides of your bust and two on the waist. You'll have to eyeball it and divide the total folded over measurement into two for both the waist area and the sides of the bust. That'll give you a preliminary pattern, you can add seam allowances and make it into a proper pattern piece. Then for the back you can make the width of the straps an inch or 1/2 an inch less than the width of your bodice front. Her length is probably good, but you could make it less or more. I'd recommend tying a bow with some fabric around your waist first to figure out how much you need. For the skirt I'd watch a circle skirt video, but you could probably get away with cutting out a waist measurement that's twice your waist measurement (or 3x, or as much or as little as you like, depending on how ruffly you want it to be), and extrapolating a circle from there, kind of. Like you mark out 1/2 the waist circumference, and then put your measuring tape on that line. Mark down to the length you want it to be, and then mark. Keep doing this by putting your measuring tape on a different point at the waist line and measuring down from there. Add seam allowance and cut it out. Cut out two pieces and ta-da, you have a skirt. For the ruffle you can use her measurements and also for the pockets. But you can change them around if you want. Longer ruffles means more gathers. Shorter ones means less gathers. Pockets can be made bigger or just gotten rid of entirely, if you'd rather not go through the hassle of sewing them. And there you have it. I hope this made some modicum of sense, and I'm sorry if this explanation wasn't very good.

@@donaunsworth5620 I made this dress as someone who is medium/large. I would recommend adding a few inches width-wise to the bodice. I made mine 20 inches long ratehr than 17 and made the incisions 5-6 inches instead of 4.5. I kept all of the positions the same. If you need more space around your sides, add a few inches to the ribbon part so you can still tie it around your back. I hope this helped!

@@nekoneko644 it turned out lovely and came in handy now that it's getting very warm here and she has gotten reaaally pregnant by now (she's due in the middle of June) 😊 I widened the front of the skirt a bit to have some more room for gathering just to be safe and didn't add the ruffle for a more minimalistic look and less tripping hazard 😂 and she loves it. Will also be great for nursing in the future as it gives quick and easy access 😊😂 hope your sister will be as happy with it as mine is, sending you happy vibes 🙏✌️😊

I made a modified version of this. I don't have elastic so, I added an 1/3 extra to the skirt. Then attached the top (which I extended width wise by 2-3 inches) in the middle. After I sewed the waist ribbon along the length of the skirt. That way its a wrap around. And instead of attached the shoulder straps to the front and back, I increased their length and attached only to the front. So its dual tying
