Beautiful! Do you think I could do this on Thursday for a Saturday wedding if I keep the floral foam soaking on Friday? Or would the flowers and greenery be wilty by Saturday?

It would look sad if it wasn't in a cooler. You can green it out the day before and maybe add flowers if it's in a cold garage, but if it's hot outside then stick with popping in the flowers the day of. Foam just doesn't keep them hydrated enough in the heat for long periods.

Thanks this is really helpful. I have to do a foam free arrangement like this. Have you tried Agra wool on an arrangement like this? Or have you ever tried a sustainable alternative? I’m in Australia so it gets hot. I definitely need something legit

We have used Agrawool and Oshun Pouches before! I like using Oshun Pouches because they have a covering over the substrate inside the pouch which helps with water retention. When using either of these methods, you will definitely want to create the arch on the day of and potentially a couple of hours before the ceremony to maintain the integrity of the flowers.

What is your advice for greening out the cages ahead of time then hanging them? Or assembling the entire arrangement a day ahead and hanging it? I will be able to keep everything in a cool room until the morning of the wedding but will not be able to assemble on site until the last minute and worry I won't have time to build 2 cage arrangements that quickly.

I'm a HUGE FAN of greening out in advance! It's not hard, but it does take way more time, I can backfill with my blooms pretty quickly and I like to do it on the arch so I can see my dispersement. You can green-out the day before, just re-wet the cage the day of with a hose or kitchen sink sprayer. If you want to add the blooms the day of and not on site, that's fine, too. Just take a bucket of some extras because it's easy to snap one or need to fill in some gaps. XXXX, Amy

Keep it inside in the cool temp, or if the garage is colder, keep it there. Mist it down with Crowning Glory and re-wet the bricks with a kitchen sink sprayer or hose the following day. It should hold up just fine!

Is the floral foam soaked for these installations? Or dry for arches because of the weight and to prevent leaking? If dry, what’s a good timeline to finish installing these pieces before ceremony time to avoid any flowers not looking their best before ceremony starts?

Hello Kirsten, yes, the foam is always pre-soaked! I typically put down towels when I'm building on-site because they will leak a little when you're inserting the blooms. Personally, if you don't want to deal with foam, then I would skip the cages altogether and just make a cluster of floral chicken wire. Hardy flowers will have no problem holding up for several hours, especially if it's not hot and outdoors.

Can you link the product used for this and clarify the quantity you used as well? I’m having a hard time navigating the site to understand what each “ceremony flowers” package actually makes.

So this was done at the height of the pandy, so a lot of flowers were unavailable and we had to substitute. This would be closest to our Autumn and Terracotta package. When it comes to 'ceremony flowers' it means you can create 2 cages (for an arch) or 2 large arrangements in an urn. The recipe stays the same regardless of either application. I keep the ceremony flowers kinda simple for cost purposes and to allow the customer to add on their favorite element to make it specific to their design. Does that make sense?

It was around 6.5-7 feet tall. If you have a chop saw, drill, and wood stain, you could definitely tackle building this yourself!
