It seems like the instructions say not to create any sort "trap" in the condensation line. Without a "P-Trap" or something I would worry a bit that some critters could craw up the line and perhaps encourage a blockage at some point. Is including a water "trap" in the drain line a good or not good idea?

Not with this system. The line sets corm pre-charged with refrigerant. Helps make the process more DIY doable.
