why I didnt come across this vid earlier! I had a Tourister with both straps broken. I wanted to repair it from the manufacturer it was costing me a lot so I ended up buying a brand new suitcase, but I plan to fist the old one with this DIY, Thanks.

@@Ryukendo92 a lot of folks don't realize that these handles are relatively easily replaceable. No reason to have to invest in a new set of luggage.

Obviously a broken Samsonite handle landed me here. Last night I realized my liner does remove for access to the handle assemblies. Your video is a great show, now hopefully my measurements will be identical to what you did, and one click will solve my own situation. Thanks!

@@jeffyoung60 good question, I'm pretty certain that I typed in the make and model of luggage that I had and then I verified the measurements between the screw holes. The link in the description pertains to the handle that worked for my particular luggage.

Description: SizeThe total length is 23.5cm/9.25 inch, and the handle length is 15cm/5.9 inch. Inner hole distance: 17cm/6.69 inch, outer hole distance: 21.5cm/8.46 inch. Metal mount size: 2.5x4.5cm/0.98x1.77 inch, hole distance: 2.3cm/0.9 inch.

Not any handle, you'll need to measure the distance between the screws and make sure that the handle you order matches the current suitcase that you have.

What if the handle has rivets instead of screws?

@@lpeacelovefaith9566 That's a little bit different, you can try to carefully drill the rivets out, or you might be able to use a pair of cutters to remove the rivets and replace with different hardware. Good luck!

Yes, that is why I felt it was worth doing the repair. I believe there are roller wheel replacement kits available. The wheels can wear down over time and may require eventual replacement.
