Your old oil filter black rubber ring still attached to engine. It's very important to check old oil filter whether it came off properly or not.

the old filter definately had the old rubber - the incorrect filter I was sent looks like had the rubber thing fall off mid install as it never tightened at all to the block anyway, new filter fits nice and snug. however a great point to always be mindful of!
