Thanks Sean! I have M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16gb ram and it bogs down when I have the film grain on. I usually put it on 1/2 or 1/4 resolution if I want to see a smooth playback. I turn it off first and then put an adjustment layer on top so I can just do it all throughout the timeline. With everything else on it runs smoothly. If the timeline is long enough I do see it slow down a few frames here and there without film grain. Either I do a smart render cache or reduce resolution playback until I’m in the finishing touches. I’ve done it on a few jobs already and a few of my YT vids, multiple clips didn’t seem to slow down hard. Skips a few frames on 100% resolution without film grain but it’s here and there. Got dehancer shortly after my a7iv. It's fantastic and has made grading fun and quick. Quick question though, any tips on optimizing performance during playback especially when you turn on halation, bloom etc

I would say smart render cache would be the best bet to see it in full resolution! Otherwise we can do 1/2 or 1/4 playback resolution

yup! definitely recommend it. The purpose of converting to rec709 is to get it to the colour space of all viewing devices (phones, laptops, tv's, etc.)

Hey dude was just checking out your film simulation luts. Do you have an opinion on why i should get this or potentially your luts?

So Dehancer will simulate a lot of different film stocks and will get you that vintage look in one package. This will best film stocks even the ones used in Hollywood so you can get closer to those looks. My "film" lut is based on the colours I like on my footage. It's a starting point with good colours right out and you have the potential to grade to however you want, if you do want to grade. It is inspired from the film stocks that I like but it's designed specifically to my taste in terms of colour renditions Similarly, they're both easy to grade, you just get more looks on Dehancer and easier to get to that hollywood film look! Give it a try to see if it's something right up your alley! any other questions feel free to ask :)

It drags on my M1 Pro 16gb on long cuts. Definitely gpu heavy! You can also set lower playback resolution first

Hey just scrolled down to this video cause I am thinking about to get the base model of the M1 Pro. When you‘re done with all grading nodes do you have problems with the playback?

I have the M1 pro as well. If all effects are on, you'd have to put it on 1/2 or 1/4 playback. I usually get by with 2 effects outside of dehancer and halation, glow, grain, print emulation, and some adjustments under dehancer with 1/2 playback

im very new to this. for now its too complex for me and i honestly would just like to shoot in slog and put your lut on it without changing much, just to create an easy film look with "one click", like a filter. Are your luts made for that, or do i still have to get into color grading and correction? btw, is it possible to use the free version of davinci for that purpose?

The LUT pack serves that purpose. It'll come with a guide as well on how to use it but I do really recommend taking the blackmagic grading course - it's free and only takes a few hours. Knowing the foundations really help a lot to get the look you want. Yes, you can use the free version of davinci as long as you're not using 10bit footage. That's only for the paid version.
