What better way to get some exercise in the fresh air than having a walk by the river! Also this is a great time to spot fish and likely swims! Great anglers like Terry Hearn spend hours looking for fish and where they feed and it's something I try to do. Now I'm too old to be climbing trees but it is a great way to spot fish! Instead i just walk beside the river and around lakes keeping a sharp lookout for signs of fish. Polarised glasses help immensely. Most anglers would benefit by investing time doing this, so if you get the chance take a walk by the river or lake and keep your eyes peeled. Bill

A nice video Bill A couple of good eye catching swims putting a feeder full of hemp and maggot or meat on the hook on the end of that weir pool and that last swim a simple arnsley bomb and worm , maggot and bread for chub ,bream and big roach it wouldn't surprise me if there was some big roach of at least 2lbs in that stream . Take care Bill especially with this Corona virus and tight lines.

Hello Bill, check out the local history. The pool down from the bridge. Well those old slabs in the pool were once part of a Saxon mill. The river there ten years past was in much better order. About 9 years ago the EA in their 'great wisdom' decided that the river could be a cause of terrible flood. So, to save the village they widened it and stripped just about all the bankside vegetation, leaving it like a featureless ditch. As a consequence, the level dropped 4-6 inches, which on a little waterway like that, is a considerable amount.

Certainly enough water going through there to make it worthwhile fishing, looks lovely. Being on an enforced break certainly helps you realise what you sometimes take for granted. I can't wait to get back on the bank, hopefully it won't be too far away!

you can see now everyone if these water ways and streams were cleaned out more often flooding would not be a problem also lovely fishing venue to teach the younger children of today about wild life and not getting into trouble. you never see dredging going on these days it was a common sight in my younger days i think you would agree Bill until next time keep safe and happy Easter to your wife and family.

Hi, another excellent and thought provoking video, albeit i’m a little late in viewing it. Pressures of gardening and painting. My morning walk takes me past Dromod Harbour, a freshwater harbour on Lough Bofin, part of the Shannon, its usually full of boats by Easter, its now empty. I also have the River Elwy passing through about 200 yards away, you have prompted me into further investigation. I have told you my wife, Val enjoys your vlogs but this one she was over the moon about, why ??? The Bluebell snapshot, we usually see them over here but not this year, she loves them as they they remind her of childhood in Holywell, Flintshire.. Take Care, Phil

Great video as usual. I've only been fishing for 6 months and only on the Droitwich Canal, so this might sound a daft question to you... If you find a lovely spot like this & reasonable enquiries over who owns any fishing rights come up blank, is it legal to just go ahead and fish? (Especially if you have a few quid on you in case a bailiff turns up). Many thanks.

Hi well if there are no signs the worst that can happen is that you be ordered to leave! The canals in England are controlled by the C&RT who lease them to clubs. You should find some similar streams in your area but you will have to wait for the river season to open! But until the restrictions are relaxed we are all stuffed Bill

M8 i had a mirror carp on , but my hook broke 😱😭 never seen 1 befor or see a fisherman catch on i had him on a 3M telescope with 16 nylon . What kind off small hooks do u use for white fish ?
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 жыл бұрын
Hi well I would only use a whip for small carp. Try a Drennan red maggot carp hook to about 0.16 or 3 to 4 lbs line. If the carp are over 3lbs you will have problems. Use a short pole with elastic or a running line for bigger fish. Bill

Hi I have known off this river for years but the sections i knew about were private and no fishing. Now my buddy told me about an area upstream that was open and i later found out about the stretch on this video so this was my first look at the river, and i will be fishing it when i get the chance. I will probably revisit with my polarised glasses and some bait to do some fish spotting but i prefer fishing this type of venue in the autumn/winter season preferably with some extra colour and flow. Hi there River Hiz does contain brown trout but desperately needs dredging!
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 жыл бұрын
Hi well Walker probably fished it and i know other writers of his era, like Frank Guttfield did! In my opinion what it needs is more volume in the river, but the water table is getting lower from excess abstraction which is the major problem in this area of the country leading to a lot of rivers drying up or becoming very shallow, the Mimram, Beane and others. The Ivel is very low as is the Flit and the Hiz and the Upper Lea!! Sure it needs a trim and some of the backwater and drains need clearing out bur dredging no. Definitely some of the vegetation that has encroached has narrowed the river but also increased the flow , it is just a lack of water volume entering the river that needs fixing! I have been told there are brownies in there but if i catch any i will keep it quiet! Bill

I hope the environment agency don't see this video as they will cut back all the vegetation and totally ruin fishing to increase water flow. Seen this happen to our local brook and stretches of the river Derwent. Then it totally kills fishing for at least 2 years. Nice to see your well. Hoping everything gets better by June 16th. Take care and be safe to all viewers.

@@easyfishing1936 Yes if done properly it would be good but they use contractors to do the job now and they care nothing of the environment. Bank sides were cut and cleared on our local brook and fish were left to die on the bank side and nobody cared. Nobody listened either.
