I love that you explain why you chose each container. Many creators simply showcase Pinterest inspired layouts that might not work with their lifestyle or family. Also, I appreciate that you repurpose old organizers and use what you have on hand instead of going out and spending $$$$ on new bins. 🤩

Hi Toni. Thanks for the kind comments. I did get a new used fridge and got new containers. But it was after months of thinking through my system.

@@SimplyCherie that is incredibly smart! When I revamped my pantry, I “wasted” $100s on Pinterest-y containers before realizing that they didn’t work for my pantry at all. Basically, I had to learn (the hard way) how to follow your organizing philosophy.

I love that you point out that we need to organize for our lifestyle at the moment! Organizing tours are great for inspiration. But some make the mistake of copying tours rather than evaluating what their personal needs are and creating organized systems that work for them. And I loved how you used office organizing supplies! Another place where some get stuck when trying to find organizing solutions ... a lot of the time they are in the other aisles! 😊 ❤❤❤❤❤

Do you think with more practice, people understand their needs better? I found that I revamp systems because what I thought would work really was not working.

Sheila Norwood hah! I did the very same for my refrigerator last year. I sourced an extra shelf for my model refrigerator and use 3 low profile MadeSmart refrigerator organizers to create meat and cheese sections, with a section in the center for grab n go salad dressing packets. It does take up space but, I love the organization and customization of it.

Cherie and Sheila, as this is an older model refrigerator, you might wish to look into many of the refrigerator repair videos on YT, that may address any problems your refrigerator is giving you. Bill Newberry, although no longer with us, is particularly good at explaining things in very clear terms. Although I’m waiting to see if it solves my issue, for my old refrigerator, I learned how easy it was to fix or replace the door gaskets and to replace the defrost timer. These things are simple, yet imperative in maintaining the correct temperature and humidity levels.
@SimplyCherie5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your advice. I actually had a repair guy look at it.

Simply Cherie ultimately, I found out it was my defrost thermostat that needed replacement so, I ordered one and did the repair myself. I’m glad you’ve had someone take a look at yours.

When you say that your fridge seemed to freeze meats that you weren’t intending to freeze, you might want to look into seeing if your fridge either merely needs to have the temperature adjusted, needs that back cleaned (?), see if any frozen water has accumulated in the bottom or whether it needs to have the thermostat replaced. Many years ago, when my fridge was freezing everything, I had to get the thermostat replaced. Also, I have glass Frigoverre bottles and have had to replace them, due to cracking, if I put them in certain parts of my fridge. As a result, I only have them in the door now as, that is the warmest spot.

I am moving and we have a side by side fridge and I have never had one before. Your video is super helpful. I have a question, besides the bottom drawer do you have any shelves that you have noticed the back might freeze? Also you probably already know this but if you wrap your celery in foil as well it will stay crispy and fresh for a very long time! 🙂
@SimplyCherie4 жыл бұрын
I need to wrap the celery. I know that trick but always try to use the celery quickly. The freezer part works well - nothing over freezes. However, my fridge side has some freezing sections.
@BuildYourHome4 жыл бұрын
Simply Cherie can j ask what parts of your fridge usually freeze your food? I've heard a lot of times the bottom drawer freezes.
@SimplyCherie4 жыл бұрын
@@BuildYourHome My fridge is 16 years old. Only in the past month has the bottom drawer started freezing the food in there. Needless to say, I hope for a new fridge some time this year. I plan to get the one with the freezer at the bottom. Or I might just get all fridge and have a freezer in the garage for long term food storage.

Any advice on how to not let stuff expire im bad at buying stuff and it going bad but also like I want to limit trips to the store ):
@SimplyCherie5 жыл бұрын
valerie short What works best for me for food not expiring is shopping my pantry and freezer...even fridge. Every week is 1 shopping trip: Week 1: plan 3-4 meals, shop Week 2: plan 2-3 meals, shop pantry and freezer for 1-2 meals, finish leftovers, shop Week 3: plan 1-2 meals, shop pantry and freezer for 1-2 meals, finish leftovers, shop Then repeat for another 3 weeks. If you force yourself to shop your pantry and freezer, you will find things to eat, cook, make, bake.

valerie short This will work for vegan cooking, too. You may want to start with 1 meal more since there won’t be too much leftovers. I cook vegan for my son when he’s home. It’s usually only good for 2 meals - dinner & lunch for our family of 4.

Hi Anu. Yes, I agree with Niamh. We use hard boiled eggs for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I use it for a Filipino recipe like pancit noodles. Since I know my menu for the week, I can determine how many eggs I should make. It just makes it easier than have to boil 1-2 eggs each time.
