As a European, I'm not only shocked by the amount of plastic as one comment has already stated, but also by the size of the fridge. It's 1,5x or even 2x bigger than the fridges I see
@the.annethology4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! I live in Asia and fridges like this one can only be found in ultra rich people homes lol. ialso dont like big fridges as it encourages food hoarding and bigger energy consumption. Also, i feel like America is lacking in fresh produce their only option is to buy in supermarkets where everything is packaged in plastic. We are in a better position because we have better access in farmer markets and produce is sold everywhere on the streets. I hope the US encourages and subsidises more farmers
@jylromain64394 жыл бұрын
@@the.annethology Supermarkets are not our only option. Many have gardens and grow their own produce. Even without a yard, we can "container garden" as my neighbor does. Depending on the season, most areas of the country have farmer's markets where we can buy fresh. And we do have markets that use a fresher source for the produce. I just bought fresh broccoli, onions and celery at the supermarket yesterday. No plastic on them. I could have bought many more items such as peppers, cauliflower, potatoes etc. Just because one video shows plastic, don't assume all of America is the same.

Not really, it's really just minimal loss of nutritional value. What will happen is that they will slightly dry out - it helps to put a damp towelette or kitchen roll on chopped up veggies. You just have to be careful with onions and garlic as they start secreting essential "oils" and these become rancid very fast.

For these newer refrigerators that have temp controlled crisper drawers, they actually stay fresher if you remove the produce from the plastic, which traps condensation and causes them to wilt faster. I line my drawers with a special foam liner meant just for this purpose, but a paper or cloth towel would also work, or just put them in the drawer directly if you don't mind wiping it out more often.

For me cut strawberries last anywhere from 3 to 4 without any problems. If they're not too ripe sometimes even up to 6 days, put that's pushing it. Carrots slices, radishes and cucumbers can last more than a week. I usually eat them up in the first 3 or so days though. I slice everything up and put a damp cloth/kitchen roll paper on it to keep it slightly moist and then seal it off. Same goes with herbs like parsley or chives (I don't recommend chopping herbs beforehand though). I tend to cut everything up twice or thrice a week as I live alone and don't stock up on huge amounts.

This was probably the most satisfying fridge organization video I've seen so far. I loved it so much, I think it inspired me to go clean and organize my own fridge. It's not too bad right now, but it definitely needs to be wiped down at least

I recommend cleaning and organizing refrigerators at least every 3 months unless you’re working on your kids science projects...lol.

Hi, great video, thanks for sharing your tips on organizing the fridge! I can't help but notice that there's a very polarizing trend on KZbin of either stocking up on non reusable items (like plastic bottles) and extreme zero waste living. I won't claim to be a guru here on sustainability, but I really want to emphasize the fact that you have a large number of plastic water bottles in your fridge. Perhaps you could consider replacing those individual bottles with one large, reusable water pitcher, or a water purification system in your kitchen. It's super wasteful to keep stocking up on plastic water bottles when there are tons of other eco friendly options

We keep bottled water for guest and also because our town is under a boil advisory often and with having two young kids we need to keep water on hand. We drink from our filtered water system in our fridge

The amount of hate towards this woman for simply filling her fridge is so sad. So many green freaks complaining about how she washes her produce, how she cuts it, how she stores it, how she wastes it, how she buys too much plastic. Y'all can calm the fuck down and just let her live. You have no idea what her day to day life is like and have no room to judge her based on 20 mins of looking at her fridge.

The smaller and older less expensive refrigerators actually last longer. As long as it actually works and doesn't run up utilities stick with it.

This was helpful. I like the idea to clean out before shopping trips. Its such a D'oh moment, lol I also like the cleaning sections at a time. Sometimes the fridge starts to scream at you when its opened too long so section by section will help that not happen. 😉

Please don’t use so many single use plastics! They are terrible for the environment and unnecessary. All of those water bottles are so wasteful :(

Not everyone is privileged enough to not use plastic, it’s cheap and for the average family necessary.
