Great plan and logistics for the grid! If you are working with less uniform layouts there's a couple of other recs I have: first, plan it all out on the floor directly below the wall, and second, make sure there are relationships between the images you select!

“Go to Lowe’s. Go to Home Depot. Buy one. Then return it at the end of the day.” 🤣😂 Why did I not think of this with my past projects!!
@how2q3 жыл бұрын
I have been criticized for doing this on occasion on my channel. I spend A LOT of money at home depot. As long as I return it the way I bought it I am ok doing this. There are a lot of people that can't afford one time use tools and this is a viable option for people with tight budgets.

Lol…measure your frame, add the distance you want between frames. So if frame is 10” and you want 1.5” inches between them you should put a nail every 11.5” inches.

might be easier to do it as three rows of 3 rather than calculating as one mass. I would find the centre of the wall, bang in first hook at the preferred height. then measure the back of your frame for the distance from edge to the centre. then go to the wall and replicate the same distance going to the right plus the amount of space you would like between each frame. thats where the second hook goes. just repeat.
@how2q4 жыл бұрын
definitely more than one way to do this...Thanks!

Isn’t this method dependent on those hooks on the ikea frames being in EXACTLY the same position on each frame..???
@how2q2 жыл бұрын
Sure and your nail being at same angle into wall. Of course like all frames to keep “tilting” use foam adhesive or small felt furniture adhesive pads if you have to place hook on nail slightly off center

@@how2q does this method work for rectangular frames in portrait ? Ie 2 rows of 3.
@how2q2 жыл бұрын
@@paddymph definitely…you just now have two measurements. One right to left the other up down. If its a 8x10 frame w one inch spacing just used 9 right left 11 up down. Hope that makes sense

Would this method work with rectangular frames? Vertical spacing might be an issue with rectangles
@how2q Жыл бұрын
Yes…if they are all the same. Same method…whatever the height or width just add spacing dimension to it. So if frame is 20 x30 and you have 1” spacing…from middle of your first mark 21” to right of that spot and 31” below. Hope that makes sense

Do you have a specific way to place the pictures in the frame? For the prints from Costco in a roll and I’m wondering what is the best way to get these in the frame 🖼 thanks!
@how2q4 жыл бұрын
Funny, that's where my wife printed pictures. We had them printed "square" i believe to match the opening in the IKEA frames I used. There is about a two inch border piece that comes with these particular frames. They worked out great...not sure if that answers your question. Let me know!
@CSantiago19944 жыл бұрын
@@how2q Thank you for taking the time. My question was more in regards to the pictures themselves as they came in as a roll, I wanted to make sure I mounted them corectly within the frame (i.e. using scotch tape or other) to ensure once they are up that the front of the frame looks good. I'll go ahead and see how they look. As per the measurments you are dead on and I once again appreciate since its a bit of a science as Sean below describes. A bit nervous with plain white walls as we don't want to "screw" it up... Thanks again.
@how2q4 жыл бұрын
@@CSantiago1994 I believe my wife used regular scotch tape to attach picture to border (painters tape may be an option here if you plane on changing out pics from time to time. As far as setup goes, the 4 ft level is important and just triple check your measurements. A simple trick to get pencil marks off wall (if necessary) is to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...works amazing!

How do you know what kind of wall you have?
@how2q4 жыл бұрын
Great question...I have a remodeled 1957 home so it is plaster in two rooms, drywall on 1x2 wood strips, and traditional 2x4 & 2x6 studs. You probably have drywall on 2x4 studs. These frames (and most frames) are so light you don't need to worry about hitting a stud. There are plenty of hooks/hangers or in my case screws that will hold frames without the need for a stud. Good luck!
