At the beginning of the video I was like "Wow! I love that colorful abstract piece! I wonder where she got it!" Moments later, she says her toddler son made it --- wow lol

Tip for military families (related to travel purchases): we've always purchased original paintings and lithographs during our deployments/travel. Some come already mounted, some (canvas paintings) can be carefully rolled and framed here at home. Then you have a wonderful story to tell for each picture!

Love a good gallery wall! Such a good idea laying everything out on the floor first to see how you want it! 👏🏻 Perfect timing too, I’m doing DIY wall art next week! Thanks love, great video! 💛

Excellent job and knowledge. I’ve done these for like a bazillion years (and, yes, that makes me old!) and these are super excellent tips. For anyone who has not done this, the good news is they get easier and easier! You have an infinite variety from family pics to purchased art. I have pics from France, Scotland and Mexico that a dear friend has gotten me during her travels. They delight me everyday! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!

Snapfish is a good site for printing photos. Save the photos until they are offering s good sale price. Their canvas prints come out great. Tip: if you don't want the edge of the picture to wrap around the sides of the frame, add a border to it before you send it in.

Another tip for printing. If you prefer canvas art, canvas champ is excellent for printing art on canvases. I buy printable art on etsy and then have canvas champ print it on a canvas (they do have other options beside canvas), and I'm always amazed at the quality and pricing! You can get huge canvas sizes for like $50. It's awesome

I like to use MCS plastic frames available from Amazon. If your picture isn't too heavy you can hang them up with a push pin also available at AMZ. Easy to rearrange and add to depending on the area available. MCS frames comes in various sizes. ♥ Shutterfly is great♥ [edit] I have an Emma Blackery wall using some of her posters as a focal point surrounded by smaller 4 x 5 frames. Everyone comments on it.♥

Just did the wall by my stairs. Best decision ever! I winged it using various sized frames and only black and dark brown frames. Some have pics and some have some fav card stock. * spray paint if the frame isn’t the color you want.

That was really helpful! 😍 Great gallery wall, btw. I liked the idea of using postcards as photos, that was very unique.

I've lost a couple pieces to command strips falling off the wall. :( Love the idea of using painters tape on the wall to mark where you're hanging things.

They're good if you're unsure where to place things, or for seasonal decorations, but they're not a good long term solution. I hung all my frames with them when I moved into my house, and 3 years later they all started falling off the walls. I learned my lesson after that and now I hang things with nails lol

Thank you for the tips, Kallie! Someday I will get my gallery up again. I had one that I never really liked--something about it was just off. We took it down when we painted. I think the problem was the gallery was too small for the wall. But I'm not sure how to make it the right size. It's the wall in our entryway, and the door covers part of the wall when it's open. So I don't know if I should use the whole wall, including behind the door, or the whole wall except what's behind the door, or the whole wall except for what's behind the door and keeping it an equal distance from the other end of the wall. Wish I could transport you over to give me your opinion!

Brilliant and so reassuring. Are command hooks safe for painted lath-and-plaster (i.e. not sheetrock) walls?

I'd like to see a gallery wall where you have to work around apartment junk, door buzzer, telephone outlet and two dbl switch plates. Argh!

Are the command strips for frames different than normal command strips for hooks? I tried hanging some mirrors using a command hook to my wall (I'm a renter so I didnt want to damage the wall) but they all fell one after the other within a few days. It pulled the paint as well.
@pegasusquilts3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The ones for frames are velcro strips so they keep your art close to the wall. Like other Command products, the packaging tells you which to get for the weight of your piece (sometimes how many to use)
