Hi Kristin. I have been making that pretzel dessert/salad for years. My recipe calls for 2 2/3 cups broken pretzels. I have done the work and my recipe requires an 8 ounce bag of pretzels. I pour them in my food process until they are the size you made with your recipe. Then after processing them, I measure out 2 2/3 cups. I noticed you measured before your broke up your pretzels and that may be why you felt there wasn't enough pretzel crust. My sugar is the same measure as yours BUT my recipe calls for 3/4 of a cup of melted butter. Now I am going to share with you, the best and easiest tip for this dessert. I used the same amount of Jell-O and water as you, BUT instead of fresh strawberries, my recipes calls for 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen (do not thaw) whole or sliced strawberries (I've even used 2 16-ounces packages before). I prefer using the sliced but I have used the whole in a pinch when I couldn't find sliced. Now here's the part that blows my mind: After mixing the Jell-O with the water, pour both packages of FROZEN strawberries into the liquid mixture, mix for a second and pop it in the refrigerator for ONLY 7 to 10 minutes. No longer because it will gel completely in no time and it will be almost impossible to pour onto the cream cheese mixture and spread out. The frozen berries will thaw, but make the mixture set up very quickly. You will still have some "giggle" but it will not be liquidly when you pour it over the cream cheese mixture. I always make mine the day ahead. It has never failed me and loved by all. Sorry for this comment being so long but I wanted to share with you my tips for this recipe. Oh, and I always use a 9x13 baking dish.

I’m an Aussie so Super Bowl isn’t a thing here but I love seeing these recipes! If your kids went nuts for the sausage squares you should try making Australian style sausage rolls with pork or beef mince and puff pastry. You can add hidden veg and cheese and they are delish.

So, next week on the menu for Super Bowl…my mom’s making buffalo chicken dip, cold veggie pizza and shrimp cocktail. I’m ordering 4 dozen boneless wings and making bean and salsa dip, sheet pan BBQ chicken nachos, pigs in a blanket, cheeseburger pods, 3 different sliders, heart attack S’mores dessert, 4 different kinds mini hand fruit pies and a pretzel and rolo dessert. My brother is making his bacon wrapped water chestnuts and bringing stuff to drink.

Love your videos. I always add extra pretzels to mine. I like using the little pretzel sticks. They crush a lot better to me. I add my cool whip after I mix my cream cheese and sugar and it seems to make it fluffier. Just a thought. Have a blessed week.

Using the smaller pan would've helped with the crust but it would also help if you had measured the 2 cups of pretzels after they were crushed. Hope this helps! Love your videos!

Great ideas!! I’ve made the sausage squares for years, but never thought about making it as an appetizer! We have it with scrambled eggs and fruit for breakfast (or b’fast for supper).We add cheddar cheese before topping it with the second crescent sheet. And you might try half spicy/half mild sausage. I do this for all sausage recipes. Combined with cream cheese, it may work ok for your kiddos. Also, if you do this in a 9x13, you can completely skip the step of sealing it!

Kristin, my mom started making the "strawberry delight" way back in the early 70's. It was a family favorite! We always used a graham cracker crust, not pretzels. I've never had the pretzel one but I am sure it must be heavenly. Everything looked so darn good!!

Just read your recipe for Strawberry Pretzel Salad. Sounds delicious! I'm old - in home-economics class we were taught if recipe said prep action (crushed, chopped, ect.), you do that before you measure. Maybe that would help your crust. Good luck!

I've been making Strawberry Pretzel Salad for 40 yrs. It was my youngest daughter's favorite (she is 48yrs old and still asks for it). My grandchild love it. I always double the amount of bottom crust. It is the best part. That Sweet and Salty is so delicious. I also use a pizza cutter to get through the bottom, just take-it slow. If you go fast you'll pick-up to much topping.

For the first recipe, hot sausage is amazing! You don’t have to add any spices-they are already in the sausage. I also put mine in a 9x13 casserole dish. You can serve it in the casserole dish so you don’t have to crimp the edges or worry about a serving platter and it stays hotter until serving. I think it is better served hot. 😊

Tip when making the jello pretzel dish. Instead of boiling water for the jello use pineapple juice. And we always double the pretzel layer. That’s the best part. It’s one of my family favorites. Been making it for years. Your meals always look so good!

Oh also I wanted to tell you I got some of the strawberries and cream Dr. Pepper. I'm a big Dr pepper fan anyway but the strawberry and cream Dr. Pepper is so good. I wish they would just keep selling it all year round. And yes, the cans are adorable. Pink is my favorite color!

We used to make the sausage squares for breakfast when we would tailgate at Bills games. I used to put some shredded cheddar on top of the meat mixture before covering them with the top crescent layer. So good!!!

When you make the sausage crescent meal, add a can of rotel when you added the cream cheese and top with shredded cheddar cheese before you put the top crescent roll on top!!

First of all, congrats to the Chiefs! I'm from Missouri so I was definitely rooting for them. I really want to try out those little pepperoni sliders. My oldest son would love those. I think the strawberry pretzel salad dessert is delicious. I've made it for Easter before. It's so refreshing. Yeah, I think it was just your pan size. It can make a big difference. You could just try doubling the crust recipe next time and putting it in your pan until it looks like enough.

Sausage squares: for whatever reason, using spicy sausage - when combined with the cream cheese and pastry - really mellows it out. Try it - you will like it and the kids won’t know.

Hi Kristin! Great video...I will be making the sausage squares for sure. Only doing some build your own hoagies and some dip. For the dip, I just add a brick of cream cheese, can of Hormel no-bean chili and 1 1/2 to 2 cups of cheddar to a sauce pan and melt it all together. I keep it warm in my slow cooker. It also makes a great burger topping. Keep up the good work!

Regarding the pretzel salad… I’ve not used a food processor, but I’ve seen recipes that say to not do that because it makes the pretzels too fine. Also, there’s a walking version of this - individual pretzels and then have cheesecake (or vanilla) pudding and top with pie filling (any flavor you want). Also, this recipe works with any fruit flavor with a corresponding jello flavor - I can’t wait for peach season to try that!

I make the crescent/sausage things but use crescent rolls and roll them up individually. We call them "rattlesnake eggs" i add a little bit of diced green chilies to mine. My cousin uses chopped jalapenos in hers. Everything looked so good. I always enjoy your videos and recipes. Just rarely comment. Lol! Have a great weekend.

Delish dips! Everyone is doing dips fir gage day abd sharing so many great recipes. I've been making the strawberry pretzel.salad for 40+ years! A 9x13 and 2 cups of pretzels are plenty. I also use the small stick pretzels and usually a rolling pin to crush them. My recipe is the same except instead of fresh strawberries, it calls for two 10oz pkgs of frozen strawberries. Is it a salad, an appetizer, or a dessert? Who knows! Whatever it is, it's always a hit!

That sausage, cream, cheese crescent roll thing is something I’ve been making for breakfast for a while… I just don’t cut it into squares like you did it… I just pull out pieces of it and serve it with some eggs… Sometimes I even add eggs and cheddar cheese on top of that sausage cream cheese mixture and then put the top layer of the crescent roll but it’s always been a breakfast item… I never ever once thought about it being used for a game day recipe… So funny

Instead of velveeta, try using a block of cream cheese instead for the sausage dip with rotel. I cook mine in a frying pan then keep it hot in a little crock pot. I just took that to our Souper Bowl party at work and everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. It’s just like the mixture you made for the crescent roll sandwiches, with rotel in it. It’s so creamy and velvety.

We personally double the amount of pretzels….as it is the kid’s favorite part of the dessert. And Ive just used a plastic bag and rolling pin to crush. Haven’t decided exactly what to make yet….but adding that pepperoni one to ours now.
