Good guide! Woudnt PVA glue be better after the first layer, would probably also bond better, does not smell etc

Great advice! Yep since this video I have been using PVA glue for cork 👍

only one problem, this process makes the oval base bend as the cork and pva glue dries, even if you use superglue first. Heres a fix: after youre done measuring with the oval base, do the entire process without the plastic base, and during the dry stage, before you undercoat, soak the entire piece in a mix of water and pva, let it dry between 2 sheets of solid plastic (plasticard does wonders) with a very heavy book on top. Give it a week. When its done, it will be hard like rock. Glue with superglue on the oval base and do the coat/paint part.

That’s a cool idea, I’m keen to try that. Mine hadn’t bent but yeah doesn’t mean that the next one won’t. And if it makes the bases all solid then it’s worth it. Thanks!

I was wondering if you were going asphalt but I could also see it as a crumbling stone ruin if you use some kind of cutter to make blockier chunks out but still rough enough to give the ruined vibe

What does dry brushing mean?

Hey! Dry brushing is a technique where paint is added to a fatter flat edged brush then most of it is rubbed away. Then lightly back and forth brushing across the model catching the raised parts and leaving some paint behind. In the next few weeks I’ll be posting a longer complete guide to dry brushing as well. It’s the most common way I’ve seen to make them and it uses supplies that are easy enough to come by. Jay’s videos are ace and he uses plenty of everyday items as well, love his and Nicks videos.
