Hello everyone, I’m Swati, and today I’m excited to share a few easy meal prep ideas that I’ve tried with my two kids. These tips will help you prepare healthy and homemade food that your children will love.
I always keep basic veggies like carrots, capsicum, peas, cauliflower, cabbage, and beetroot in my fridge. These veggies can make any meal healthier. By preparing a basic veggie mix, I can easily add them to parathas, uttapams, idlis, sandwiches, and more. I always have beetroot-carrot or spinach puree on hand to make even simple rotis or pooris healthier. Sometimes, kids might not like the taste of beetroot, so boiling it with carrots adds a slight sweetness, making it more palatable.
Opting for homemade versions of sauces, dips, and jams instead of store-bought ones is another great way to ensure your kids are eating healthier. Additionally, keeping dairy products handy can make meal prep much easier. I always make yogurt at home, which my kids enjoy with parathas or in smoothies. Making paneer at home is another tip; don’t discard the whey after making paneer as it’s very nutritious and can be used in dough or rice. My kids, Pravar and Hrutvi, love dishes like palak paneer and paneer bhurji, making meal planning simpler for me.
While my older child, Pravar, drinks plain milk in the morning and evening, Hrutvi had colic issues with cow milk. We switched to Aptamil Gold Stage 3 formula milk, which has been great for her.
