ack. sadly, this tutorial isn’t really working for me TuT i’m trying to change the color of my model’s eyes and it either affects the entire image including the eyelashes which i don’t want, or it changes only a tiny section because the highlights make it so that there are too many colors for it to change properly. i’ve tried both method and neither are working for me

My problem is that I can't import the material into GIMP because it doesn't recognize the file type (.mat) what I've found so far on how to get it to import it, hasn't worked for me. Still looking though.

You cannot import materials into photo editing softwares, photo editing softwares are what they're called "photo editing" Meaning you can only edit the texture itself like I explicitly show in the video.

Hello! In order to optimize an avatar a creator may merge together materials to make it one texture. Some creators do this because they have substance painter, or use the texture tool provided in blender. The best way to do this is follow my tutorial on how to add images onto textures. I show a "grid technique" in which you place an alphabetical grid onto an avatar texture to find where everything is, and then work from there. More difficult of a process but definitely doable!

Your texture import settings are a bit scary. If you have those for every texture your avatar might end up being 100MB+. :D Except that good tutorial for beginners. :3
