My wife says she speaks at a child's level in Japanese. She also says she loves talking to kids because she can understand them a lot easier.

I can also understand and answer that question with the correct pronunciation very quickly but I can't hold a conversation for shit.

lovejays Japanese is a spoken fast language. Most sentences are short phrases or even one word stems. It is hard if you don't practice much. Everything is hard when you don't put your ass to work hard for something.

That’s because jimejime was the only important part. The rest she just had to roll out of duty to finish the sentence. We do the same in English all the time. The rest is something you’re used to hearing all the time or saying all the time so you don’t pay attention to that part and neither does the listener. They hear it as one single thing

I think its good to talk about such a spesific subject because then the works are repeaded often enough to catch them. Also, I like it when the question is repeated over and over again. This way I can remember it!

you are thinking it in english. Both Japanese and Chinese say yes when they agree with a sentence which includes negative words like "aren't", "don't".

Context, since in English she said "you don't need...?" answer as "NO" but in Japanese she said "YES" meaning "CORRECT" or "EXACTLY"

Wow. I live in Japan and when I see the Japanese at the bottom of the screen while they're talking, I can see why I usually don't catch it - They just slide over those words soo fast.

Hast du eher mit Büchern gelernt oder einfach viele Filme/Serien auf Deutsch geschaut? Ich lerne gerade Japanisch, bin aber nicht in Japan... Vielleicht kann ich ja da was von dir lernen :)

One thing I notice as a Japanese-american is that a lot of new wasei-eigo has developed in Japan while in America most japanese people still use the Japanese words that they replaced For example, "sutaba" for starbucks and "sumaho" for smartphone

Some expressions are inaudible, but the site knows what the people are saying and writes it in at the bottom anyway. Great site! How many of these are there in the series? Keep going! I live in Japan teaching English. I know vocabulary and can communicate but listening is so hard. Can't catch even words I know. Thank you!
