Trying this for my first ever knit project as a crocheter! lord it is taking me FOREVER but i feel like it’s really helping me get my tension even. I’ve been having trouble finding beginner knit tutorials in continental style, so thank you so much for posting this!

honored it's your first!! i didn't even think about that since continental is just second nature to me now, but i've heard it's often more natural for crocheters to switch over to that vs english!

it's way more approachable than it seems, especially with a single color like this!! and you can keep it simple and not switch to knitting in the round partway through like i did, i'm just very pressed for time knitting gifts so i thought i'd show that hack that i use lol 😅

Omg, I was trying to make a thick headband from another tutorial on flat needles… I kept accidentally losing/ messing up my stitches. This tutorial for doing it in the round is going to help me finally finish my headband! 🎉😊 Thank you!!! First I’ll have to frog my current project 😅

So random but I’d love if you included a hair styling tutorial in one of your vlogs! I have the same cut as you but really struggle to style it and yours looks so nice, especially with the headband!

thank you!! i just use a round brush and blow dryer for my bangs, and then run through my hair a little to flip it up at the ends. i like to put it in a low twisty bun with a clip while im getting ready too because that gives it some more wave and movement, since it naturally dries really straight

by braid design, do you mean the v-shaped stitches? that's called a "knit" stitch :) and yes you totally can, just follow the beginning steps with your needles, and skip the chapters "knitting in the round" and "casting off in the round"

When working in the round, are you working in stockinette stitch or knit stitch?

@@karenarechiga227 “stockinette” in the round is just knitting every stitch, so in this case they’re the same thing :)

@@heybanana42 you should just measure yours with a measuring tape because your row gauge might be different :) you might also want a different length depending on your head size!

i'm having a bit of confusion right now. if i'm not doing it in the round do i still cast on 26 or do i cast on less?

@@bobamatcha9323 you cast on that same number regardless! this tutorial starts the same way whether you’re doing it flat or in the round, you’ll see in the video when i switch to in the round and you can just skip that part :)

@@starcrossedknits i have another question. im doing the same amount of cast ons with 4.5 mm needles and worsted weight yarn the width turned out to be 3 and a half inches instead of 2 and a half. do you know what im doing wrong?

@@bobamatcha9323 you should look up "gauge" - basically people have different ways of holding yarn and that means that they can use the same yarn and needle size, but it comes out to be a different size because they knit looser or tighter. since you're using the same stitch count and yarn as me but yours is coming out bigger, if you size down your needle size, that will help it come out smaller (by making your stitches be tighter). or if you like the fabric of yours or don't have a smaller needle, you can just cast on fewer stitches (i think 18 or 20 should bring you around 2.5). but also i'm not sure how much you knit before you measured that, sometimes the cast-on is a little wider, so i'd knit at least 1.5" or so before you measure the width

So its my first time knitting and it was doing soo good until I reach to the part to slip it off , booom!!! there is only one row 😭😭now I am wondering where I went wrong because I only see one row not two😭🤣🤣

@@THATGIRKAYKAY maybe your wool is just a bit grippy-er than mine and the two rows are kind of stuck together but would separate if you pull them apart from each other? otherwise you could be purling instead of slipping every other stitch? don’t worry about it too much though, moving the stitches into the round is completely optional, you can just knit the whole headband with double knitting like how you start out!
