I find that my lemon and orange essential oils dissipate so quickly when making soap. Any tips for making these scents last longer? Im using high quality all natural oils and they are quite expensive.

Try adding some kaolin clay in the soap when blending. 1 teaspoon per pound. That should help it last longer

No. Titanium dioxide is a whitener.

Raw soap batter is still very caustic! Mixing lye water into the oils doesn't make it safe. It's not safe until it fully saponifies.

in a detergent soap you don't want any extra fat, you want it to be as cleansing as possible. it will be too dry for the skin to use, but should work well as a detergent soap

@@HerHealthyHome I just meant that it shouldn’t be used on food again after it’s used with the lye. I think I need to buy an additional immersion blender for soap making and not go back and forth with the one I use with food.

Interesting about the lye, it's consider toxic on the chemical maze app. How can it be dangerous first up but then not when mixed ?

After it is mixed and sits for 24 hours plus, the lye "reacts" with the oils and turns them into soap. Therefore the lye is "used up" and no longer caustic

I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this with the dangers of lye when there are less caustis options.
