You can also make healing salves (just melt down in a double boiler some beeswax and herbal infused oil), perfume bars, and candles I think. That’s all I can think of at the moment besides the lotion bars, but there’s loads of lists on Pinterest for what to do with it.

My daughter (19) suffers from acne and the blemishes take so long to disappear. The dermatologist regimen doesn’t really work and I think the products are too harsh for her skin. I know it bothers her and I would like to try a more natural approach. Her skin is oily as well. I am going to make the face wash and moisturizer. What essential oil would you suggest for us to try for acne? I am thanking you in advance because I think this is what I’ve been looking for for her. You are very informative and such a delight to watch. Beautiful family too and congratulations on being debt free!

Put a few drops (3-6) on a little cotton pad and dab it on good right on the pimple , everyone’s skin reacts a little differently but even if it’s not the exact right one for your daughter it’s still going to help and if you don’t see a huge difference from tea tree then I would try mint or lemon. Odds are they are all going to be gone the next day, the really massive ones might take 2-3 lol Good luck

oils and butters will turn rancid over time on textile which is probably what you're smelling and if you use it daily I suggest you change your sheets more frequently and use hot water. try soaking in baking soda in hot water and washing with a detergent. shifting to more water-based lotions with less oils will probably improve your situation.

Is there a way to make the body butter glide better? I hope you understand what I mean... the homemade stuff tends to stretch the skin as you rub it in...the bought stuff glides easily over the body... does that make sense?

@mdml03 жыл бұрын
the bought stuff which are professionally crafted include ingredients (nature-derived if certified organic product) that improve slip and overall silky feel and luxuriousness which cannot be duplicated with just raw plant oils and butters and beeswax. Some incorporate water or plant hydrosols and aloe vera juice which takes this to a whole new level.
@andreiadetavora84712 жыл бұрын
@@mdml0 Its about proportions... some plant oils can glide easily ;)
@mdml02 жыл бұрын
@Andreia de Távora using only plant oils and butters will leave the user feeling greasy no matter how much arrowroot powder you add which is why it's kept to less than 15% in formulations and the rest is water or water replacements like aloe juice for skin hydration and some thickener so it doesn't all just melt when the temp gets a little warm. Plant esters are great replacements for oils. Try them out.

I’ve found that arrowroot powder makes my body butters feel gritty. Is there anything else I could add to adsorb the oils that wouldn’t be gritty?
@thegreenflea48873 жыл бұрын
Are you sure it is the arrowroot? I personally don’t find arrowroot “gritty.” However, Shea butter heated to a temperature that is too high will turn gritty. I ruined a couple of my homemade products doing this.
@jayjames8743 жыл бұрын
@@thegreenflea4887 Yes, 100% arrowroot. The first batch I made was mango butter and coconut oil, the second mango butter and Shea butter. Out come was still gritty although I don't think either batch overheated. Maybe it wasn't whipped thoroughly enough. I used a hand mixer and whipped both batches until they were fluffy.
@mdml03 жыл бұрын
shea butter is notorious to create grit when not cooled down properly. there's a scientific reason behind it but i don't expect that information in diy videos. try rapid cooling your oil and butter mixture with an ice bath.

I bought all the ingredients and tried making a face moisturizer but unfortunately I just found it to be far too greasy (I added the arrowroot powder). I will try and find another use for it. I tried to use it as a makeup remover, but found I had to wash my face 3 times with soap just to get the greasy feeling off my face, which defeats the purpose.

plant oils and butters will always be greasy if used in large amounts like in her recipes and without water content. sorry you had to find out the hard way but it's a good learning experience. washing it away with lye soap will strip your skin acid mantle leaving your face tight and dry.

Hi there Laura, sorry to tell you this, but for me personally the video wasn't informative coz you didn't mention how to actually make it. You only tell which ingredients it contains and where those ingredients are good for. The thing I missed is the actual proportions, how much I need from everything to make the perfect mix. Another point is, I'm new here, and I had to search in Google to find your web page. Now I know it's not that hard to do so, but just maybe you also can provide a link "down below" to where your web site is located. Many Thanks.

to be fair most of her creations are oil-based so mold and bacteria aren't an issue if there's no water. what it does need though is the correct antioxidant and right amount to minimize oxidation of the oils and fats. :-)
