When my son lived at home supper (dinner if you wish) was sitting at the table and no TV on. Son is on his own, supper is in the living room watching TV. Usually a British program like Taskmaster or WILTY because new Canadian (or American) TV is mostly not very entertaining. Love to watch you paint, listen to your thoughts and follow along. I thoroughly enjoy hearing your thoughts on life in France (& life in general)! It is communication w/ friends- (the kids are on their own & the days of hanging out w/ friends seem to have passed.) And it is especially nice to hear from someone w/ a passion for one of my interests too! Judging from our comments, we all do our share of complaining - what would a get together w/friends be without it??!! 😂 I read Groucho Marx biography years ago. He said in those days, his parents went out to play cards with friends & his mom got all dressed up, girdle, wig, the works. And by the end of the night she had taken off every uncomfortable thing.. The idea was to show up looking glamorous, but they all knew what they REALLY looked like 😆! I love that story!!

He was having a bit of arthritis and when the vet put him on a pain killing drug, he was so much happier and could climb the stairs again. Also helps him sleep! You could try asking the vet for something to make your dog comfortable x
@DianeAntoneStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for your kind message. I take your point about the painkillers. We have found that aspirin given to her when she is uncomfortable seems to work and the vet said it was okay for dogs to take. My biggest problem at the moment with her is grooming. She is a long-haired dog and she absolutely DETESTS being groomed now, won't let me touch her. My husband usually holds her while I groom her, but he's just had major surgery and can't do anything, so I'm stuck. And there are no good groomers round here who will do anything bigger than a Yorkie. It's a problem and I must solve it soon. Thanks again, and hope you are enjoying the videos!

@@DianeAntoneStudio thank you for your reply. Yes, I’m enjoying the videos, especially the ones without music. And I never knew you could give aspirin to dogs! My old man also doesn’t like being groomed and has long hair. Haha, I was just thinking, we all get a bit grumpy as we get older (speaking personally you understand) :D

Hi, Diane!! This was so calming and relaxing, listening to your voice as you talked while you painted and created. Your painting is Simply Lovely, Diane!! I so enjoyed watching you create this from a blank canvas, to all the different steps you used and the different mediums you used to make this!! I love watercolors!! I love how you explained while you painted. This is so wispy and vibrant at the same time!! I would love to visit France someday. My father was there during WWII. He was in the Army. He has pictures of him and another soldier sitting under the Eiffel Tower!! I have photos of him in a field with some of his buddies by a castle in England, too. I was born when my Dad was in his later years, at 41. I certainly agree about the taste of food, also. In the USA, I feel the same way. They destroy the food with all the chemicals, pesticides, steroids and antibiotics. It's such a shame. (So many young people passing from disease because of it, too). Sorry...got off track there. Anyways, thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us today. This is my first time on your channel. Just subscribed!!
@DianeAntoneStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lydia and a warm welcome to the channel! So glad you found us and are enjoying the videos! I'm sure the French are still very appreciative of what the American army did to help during the war. Our parents' generation was certainly brave and patriotic. We try to grow some of our food to avoid the pesticides etc but it's pretty hard work with the climate we have now, we've had an unbroken drought since March and it's hotter than I've ever known it here in northern France. But at least we have the channel and our art, and do continue to watch and to paint along with me! See you again soon!

Hello Diane, I am finally watching this lovely tutorial. I am with you here as well. I do not watch television at all. I do watch movies though, old movies mostly from 1930's-1950's. I use my tv to cast them too. Occasionally, I watch something on Netflix. Sometimes, it's months before I do. But, daily, I watch youtube videos... when I come home and have a snack. It's really a matter of personal censoring. I.e., what kind of thoughts do I want to bring within. congrats on being a vegeterian. I think that's wonderful. sorry about your intolerances. Thanks to your recommendation, I bought these poetique brush watercolor markers and then bought the big set because I simply LOVE them. Thank you.

This is so pretty!! And quite relaxing..☺️ Did you find out what caused the green peaches to rot? I was curious & starting checking...there is a disease called brown rot...that can start from the flowering of the plant. I wonder how many complaints that supermarket got!!
@DianeAntoneStudio2 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is they are stored in what they call a protective environment, which means they are held in gas which stops their ripening process. Then when you bring them home they are out of that environment and immediately begin to deteriorate. Didn’t used to be like that here, when the produce came more directly to market. Now I believe everything has to go through storage facilities where it’s kept too long before being delivered to the shops. Not an improvement. And everybody knows it. Really I hardly buy soft fruit fruit anymore - luckily we are able to grow quite a bit in our garden. No point in complaining to the supermarket here - unlike in England they take no notice of anyone’s complaints.

Diane do you have a recommendation for a brand of water colors for beginners, not too expensive, but is a step above child water colors... To begin i'd like to purchase what i see in my craft stores here instead of buying onlline.. This is what i see available.. Koi, Winsor Newton Cotman, seems to be the man 2 brands.. there might be a Winsor Newtown Gallery.. then ofcourse David Smith though i'm not sure i'm ready to spend that kind of money.. Or if you have another suggestion i would buy online? Thank you for that! Hugs! deb
@DianeAntoneStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Deb, you can't go wrong with Cotman from Winsor and Newton. I know there are a lot of Chinese alternatives now, and I can't vouch for where W&N make their Cotman colors now although I've been told they are still made in England. But they are still good quality, wherever they be made, and they are good for a beginner, I still use quite a few of their tubes that I've had for a couple of decades!!! That is my recommendation as shown in my Amazon shop, which is hear: amazon.com/shop/dianeantonestudio Hope that helps!

Wouldn't that make a lovely card Diane?! We stopped all of our TV service.. So the Tv sits there mostly unused.. We have several hundred dvd's that we will pull out and watch now and then.. But for the most part we read or i do my art.. I'll watch some KZbin while i draw or paint or whatever.. i guess listen would be the appropriate term.. Satellite and Cable are just awful and we have not bought into the Streaming thing.. For the most part we are content.. I don't have any marker sets now that i think of it... But its lovely to watch you do this. I'am definitely a color inside the lines kinda gal... lol But thats not good so i try to relax and not be so particular.. It does look better looser i'm just not so inclined to do it that way...lol I just need to watch more Diane videos and i'll get there.. You asked me last time when we talked about the peaches and i'am from the US. Take care! See you tomorrow over coffee!! Hugs! deb
@DianeAntoneStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Deb, thanks so much for your lovely reply. I'm actually with you on the tv thing. When my kids were young we had no tv, as I knew it was bad for their development and I've never been happier. We got so many fun things done, together and separately, that would never have happened had the tv been on in the corner of the room. I only accepted the return of the tv into the house because I remarried (over 30 years ago now) and my husband insisted on it, for sport and politics watching. That's what he does all day long now, as his health is not good. So it comes down to this: either I sit in the evening and watch tennis, football, basketball or politicians arguing, or I demand to be allowed a choice on the tv while we eat. So I do that. He sits quietly through Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Animal Kingdom, The Fugitive, Mad Men, Modern Family, whatever I opt to watch. Then, dinner over I leave for the studio and he switches over to sport or politics. Or occasionally an opera. I spend all my time in my studio except when I'm preparing meals, cleaning the house, eating or showing or asleep! It works fine! Oh and one of the peaches in the set of six was okay, I shared it with Tamsin last night!!!!! See you soon! PS you won't regret getting a set of poetique brush pens. I've never liked the traditional marker, but the brush pens are almost as good as watercolors.

Diane I have to confess I have been watching you and really enjoying your videos. But since Kate Jackson from Last Homely House KZbin channel is taking a break, I have been binge watching your videos. You just mention in this video that you are vegetarian. Have you considered expanding and showing your studio, your kitchen, cooking your farm? Concentrate please on painting but occasionally cook something for us. Just a thought. Thank you for bringing us with you going down amazing rabbit holes with every video.

Hi Gayle, thanks so much for your message, very interesting. I have watched a few of Kate Jacksons videos so I have heard of the last homely house. Hopefully she will be back soon. Meanwhile I’m glad that you found us! Interesting that you say about expanding the channel into slightly different areas. We do have a second channel called From the Garden. So far, we haven’t developed it at all and it only has a few videos about our vegetable garden and a couple of meditations. But the plan is to do what you suggest eventually. Here’s a link: youtube.com/@fromthegarden in case you’re interested. Thanks again, and wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Why not frame it, it is lovely and difficult for me to do and I did it! Don't assume it may not be worthy. You can make some of us feel less than. Thank you

You’re not moaning, you are just saying the same as many, many people are saying! It’s the same here in the states. Don’t know why…….
