Yes, my husband experienced something similar at a medical office. They put him in a cubical to wait for the doctor to see him and they forgot all about him and left him there while the entire office staff went out for lunch! Yes, he walked out after realizing he was alone in the office. And...he never went back to THAT doctor.

This was fun, both the painting and conversation. Thank you. Going to give this a go. Here in the states, just about every medical form asks for allergies. Thanks Diane, - feeling your way through starting something new/or an unaccustomed technique, is made all the more exciting by being able to watch and hear your musings as you tentatively find a way through this painting. It puts me in mind of the Japanese art form of Kintsugi - repairing broken pottery with gold. Not hiding the repair but treating it as an honoured part of the journey. The abstracted forms in your painting lend itself very much with this. I love it!!

Hi Lizzi, yes, the world is a big place and there are so many ways of doing things around the world - here in France it is totally different from each country in Europe. Love your artwork. A neat trick about making a sample first. Speaking of allergies, I'm deathly allergic to shellfish. I used to be able to eat shrimp, but one day when I was 13, I ate a shrimp cocktail and it almost killed me. Also used to have acute asthma.

I found this amusing because I have never heard of anyone else who has a reaction to bananas as I do. People usually think I am a little crazy when I tell them.... bananas? My reaction is not quite as dramatic but certainly causes me enough problems that I stay well away from them. Even as a baby, it would never stay down for me and that was just the beginning, how could one not think that is a real thing. Made me smile to hear you talking about this, feeling vindicated, so, thank you 😊 and thank you for your art, it is appreciated.
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Yup, people tend not to believe anything they haven’t experienced themselves! My husband didn’t believe I had allergies and thought that I was making a fuss about nothing. Then one evening we had a meal in a restaurant and afterwards I was so deathly sick for a week he has never argued with me again about what allergies can do and whether I was allergic. Perhaps it was mopping up after me that convinced him!

I was never a fan of abstract art but now I love what you can do with shapes and colours! You probably remember the fantastic, colourful knitting patterns of Kaffe Fassett . A friend always said she could knit any variation of greens or blues and they would look beautiful. Her jerseys certainly did. So I reckon you can’t go wrong. The results are lovely. Have you come across the channel called Creative Cove? The artist does a lot of sketches on top of paint…all sorts of sketching, including geometric shapes. They gave me some ideas which have turned out pretty well.
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Deirdre, yes, I do remember Kaffe Fassett, the most amazing knitting I ever saw, never saw anything like that since. Far too complicated for me to attempt, but lovely - real works of art themselves. Yes, I have heard of Creative Cove, haven’t watched any yet though. Must check it out!

I love how you went about making your idea of abstract patterns. I always get in my own way when trying to do any type of abstract painting. It probably sounds stupid, but when I do "paint" abstract, I feel like a fake. I know it's weird, but that's just what I feel. I think having a preset color palette like the kuretake set makes this art more enjoyable. You can just go along and pick whatever makes you happy @ that moment. Yeah, you can do this with any paint but I feel like kuretakes make it a bit more fun. I personally don't own any but to me I feel like it would be more enjoyable lol. I'd love to have a small set, but maybe sometime in the future. Anyway, thank you for all of your videos, ideas, and tutorials. I greatly appreciate all the info you share. Have a great day

Interesting re your talk about allergies and Canada. My daughter (now almost 20) had multiple allergies/anaphylactic when she was young, started at 18 months old. Her Allergy Doctor was amazing. He is Australian but spent many years in Canada specializing. and leading studies over there. He said she was the most complex case he had seen. Fortunately they have been reduced to only a few now. One thing I will say though, now she is over 18 she has to go to the adult section for her allergies and we no longer have the amazing pediatric Dr, and they are just different when it comes to Adults. Allergies are a big thing down here and taken very seriously and not scoffed at. Now, onto the gelli plate!!! Yessss they are great fun and they are time thieves 😂. I can lose myself for hours getting messy and just print after print 😊. Ps hope you are keeping well! And I’m no Dr but the pains in the chest could have been brought on by anxiety/panic attacks which can at times make you feel like you are having a heart attack. Don’t ask how I know 😂😂

Hi Sharon and thanks for your interesting info. That makes sense, maybe that doctor had influenced the ones in Calgary that treated me! We really have to look after ourselves nowadays, no easy task. I love your relaxing paintings. I have atopic contact dermatitis. I'm allergic to fragrances which everyone is adding to products for no reason, and I'm allergic to a preservative that is in basically every liquid item you can think of, including cleaning products. Since covid everyone has overused these products, so I have basically been homebound, unless I have to go to the doctor or other things I can't do virtually. My skin reacts to these things so badly, and it stays for weeks to months, and there's no cure, simply avoidance. People don't understand or care if it doesn't affect them! They just think we are over reacting!
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Lori, and I’m sorry to hear about your allergic condition. I have a similar problem. Over the years since I had chemotherapy I have become gradually more and more sensitive to everything manmade or even touched by mankind! I can’t eat any processed food (chemicals), I am allergic to gluten, pollen, you name it, there’s a long list. I can’t easily even go into a supermarket because of the lights. So I have also lived the life of a hermit for about ten years now. Covid restrictions were actually helpful in a way because being able to wear a mask without being stared at was a relief (not that I go out often!) It’s a pity the general public aren’t made aware of the reality of allergies. They’ll soon learn. Everyone is headed that way!
@Love2Create62 Жыл бұрын
You are so right Diane, unless things affect a person, most people just don't care! Hospitals and doctor's offices aren't supposed to have fragrance, but they do. Interesting that there is a prejudice in the UK against allergies, of all things. In the US and other countries around the world, there are doctors who specialize in allergies. I am gobsmacked, to be honest. Well, there are US Doctors who have their own “prejudices “ against scientifically proven medical phenomena. It is just so odd.

I don’t know what is happening in the UK now really, my experience is from some years ago as I have been living in France for some time. I’m sure there are some who specialise somewhere.
