I'm currently working on mine, and I think I found an alternative to the scewers. If you put small nails in those places, you can easily place light objects with magnets there.

Just got a proxxon and have decided this will be my first project, but I am making one major variation. I already own a bit of Dwarven forge and a number of 3D printed tiles (mostly fat dragon) I figure this will be something a bit different to what I already have and also give me the option of combining with my existing stuff to make it more vertical. Which comes to my variation as my existing is based on 2 inch cubes I am going to make mine 4 inch cubes so they combine better than with 3 inch cubes. I may also make some 2 inch cubes and some only 3 inches wide but still 4 deep and tall to add some variety.

Do you have a recommendation for a good "starter kit" list of components crafters could use to begin with your modules, and then add onto as needed? Ex "I'd start with 20 of x, 10 of y, and 5 of z (because you won't need many to give a certain feel to the scene)
@RPArchiveOfficial
@RPArchiveOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
I'd say that depends on what you want to be able to build, a starters kit that would build you walls and a gate or small temple or lone tower would be 13 stairs, 8 battlements, 4 battlement corners and 8 floor tiles. If you wanted to make a full sized temple/stair/colosseum or wall with full towers etc you'd need 25+ stairs, 14 battlements, 12 battlement corners and 10 floor tiles And then increase from there if you want to build something really nuts :D
@phookaziz3
@phookaziz3 3 жыл бұрын
RP Archive Awesome! Thank you very much for your response. I noticed you listed “starter kit” numbers of components with the new mountains/caves pieces. I’ve really enjoyed your content. My group has limited space to play so I can’t wait to use your modules as the set pieces on our cake stand stages (aka Prof. Dungeoncraft’s UDT).

this has likely been mentioned already but why texture the sections that will be glued together?
@RPArchiveOfficial
@RPArchiveOfficial 9 ай бұрын
It squashes them slightly which means they don't wobble when stacked, as the whole layer is textured - in theory :)

Why did you opt for 45° angles? I understand that it holds things a little bit better but wouldn't stright holes give you more flexibility?
@RPArchiveOfficial
@RPArchiveOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
I picked 45 degree because while the current accessories are small and lightweight, not all in the future will be. I have some big plans... A 45 degree angle offers a lot more support and is less likely to bend, I found :)

Excellent Tutorial and really a modular build. Did I understand that correctly that you only craft these "stair pieces" and no 3"x3"x3" cubes? And how many pieces did you craft in order to be able to build, like the castle wall or the collosseum part?
@RPArchiveOfficial
@RPArchiveOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Correct :) If I'm remembering rightly, I think I have about 30 stair pieces or just under? There or thereabouts :)
@99smite
@99smite 3 жыл бұрын
@@RPArchiveOfficial Thanks for your quick response. I am kind of stupid, since I always buy the thickest oieces of xps foam and end up wirecutting thinner strips out of the big chunks... could go with a 30mm thick piece, remove the top and bottom layers (they usually are coated) and should end up with a 1 inch sheet... Same goes for 2 inch sheets... I usually make small bricks which I then smooth out and texture and then hotglue these bricks into a wall or other structures... Have to check my floor tiles since I made them blackmagiccraft style, but I am not sure whether they were 1 inch thick.... Well, what is my Proxxon for?

That's really good! I would appreciate if you didn't only use the imperial measuring system though. Maybe put a note at the corner in centimeters?
@RPArchiveOfficial
@RPArchiveOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
I'll bear it in mind for the future :) I mainly use imperial as most wargames like 40k, D&D etc use imperial measurements, so I've always ended up using them, especially for terrain that will end up used for those games!
