Really good stuff and appreciate the detailed breakdown. Spotted the corrugated tin right at the end of the video. Working on almost identical project over here in the UK and have taken some really good tips from your video. The biggest difference here are the material prices and achievable selling price - maybe £100 on a good day.

Nice and easy to follow without all the fluff as other channels do. Would’ve loved to hear a little more about pricing and what you would recommend someone starting out price these as?

very nice. Have you started building and marketing for this spring season? I just started a Woodworking LLC this year and have made a few prototypes of of cedar fence pickets.

Thanks, and I always have these listed as available, but have not specifically marketed towards Spring. The projects I get seem to always be different.

Good day sir, where can I see what you did at the bottom? Is that roofing tin? If so, that's a great idea!!
@Againstthegrainwoodworks
@Againstthegrainwoodworks Жыл бұрын
Yes it is corrugated tin for roofing. Sorry if I didn’t capture that very well in the video. It is cut to size and screwed to the bottom of the 2x2 framing.

Does the glue and brad nail in the corners keep the boards together when the wood swells in the humidity?
@Againstthegrainwoodworks
@Againstthegrainwoodworks Жыл бұрын
From my experience, if anything these boards will shrink a little bit. There are screws on the inside connecting the outside boards to framing pieces too.
@Bob-More-Than-Enough-WC
@Bob-More-Than-Enough-WC Жыл бұрын
What screws did you use on the inside 2x's? I'm figuring they were not the Trim head screws used on the top trim.
@Againstthegrainwoodworks
@Againstthegrainwoodworks Жыл бұрын
They were 2.25” torx head deck screws.

Why no glue on the 2x2

I didn’t think it was necessary at the time. It definitely would add extra insurance to keep things together though.

@@Againstthegrainwoodworks dude, you're amazing. I appreciate this! I'm new to woodworking and haven't charged anyone anything yet lol still at the "making things for friends and family" stage haha your videos are quality!!! I subbed and hope ya get the recognition you deserve!!! Keep up the great videos
@Againstthegrainwoodworks
@Againstthegrainwoodworks Жыл бұрын
@@birdmananyweather1681 thanks I really appreciate that! One of the hardest things is charging enough. In the beginning I’d price things low to get the work, you’ll soon learn that doesn’t get you anywhere. Also working for friends and family is hard, you don’t want to charge much of anything, but in reality they should be willing to pay you as much as anyone.

how much dirt do the planters hold?
@Againstthegrainwoodworks
@Againstthegrainwoodworks 8 ай бұрын
It’s been a minute since I built these, but I believe they were 2’x2’x2’. In that case it would be 8 cubic feet per planter. Locally I can get 2 cu ft bags of soil so those work out good for filling them.
@Clemandsimms
@Clemandsimms 8 ай бұрын
thanks for quick response! real nice planters. Did you drill in any drain holes on the bottom of the corrugated panels?@@Againstthegrainwoodworks

@@Clemandsimms I believe so, If I put a bottom in my planters I always drill a series of 1/4” holes for drainage.
