Easy Mushroom Growing: How to Make BRF Cakes Part 1

In this video, we see how to make BRF or brown rice flour cakes as seen in the PF Tek. A simple, cost effective way to start growing your own gourmet mushrooms at home.
Equipment
Wide mouthed jars
A scale
Large Mixing Bowl
Sieve
A spoon
A pressure cooker
Masking tape
Aluminium Foil
A still air box
70% isopropyl alcohol
Small blow torch
BRF Cake ingredients (Makes 1 Jar)
60ml Brown or whole grain rice flour
120ml Vermiculite
55ml Water
1 small spoon of instant coffee
1 small spoon of powdered gypsum/dry wall
1 cc of liquid culture or spore solution
Method
Dissolve instant coffee into the water
Combine water and vermiculite and mix well
combine flour and gypsum and mix well, then add to the vermiculite and water mixture.
Mix well and then spoon into a jar, filling it to about 3/4 of its capacity.
Fill the remaining 1/4 with dry vermiculite. Cover with foil and tape down securely with a strip of tape going across the top as an inoculation
In a still air box inoculate each jar with 1cc of liquid culture or spore solution.
Store in a dry place that's reasonably warm

Kind of overdoing it on flaming the needle. Simply passing the needle through the flame is adequate

@@Hamsquatch1973 Eh, better safe than sorry. I like the needle to glow red....ensures any endospores are destroyed. An extra 5 seconds with the flame or throwing out whole batches and starting again? Any easy choice!
